Victor Livingstone

Basics

Dr. Victor Maurice Livingstone // M (he/him) // 28 years

Victor, or, Dr. Livingstone, as he is typically referred to, is a head researcher and biologist at the National Institute of Medical Research in Genora. He is incredibly well known there, and his position is second only to Dr. Theodosius Allea himself. As Dr. Allea is rather secluded and private, frequently working on projects by himself, Livingstone tends to be in charge.

Personality

Victor is a very careful person. He is very orderly and neat, both mentally and physically--he is always aware of where things are, and that is namely because he is so meticulous and organized. He absolutely despises people rifling through his things, as he hates the idea of not knowing exact locations, as well as the paranoia they might steal something. In his search for neatness, and in par with his growing reclusiveness, he carefully regulates his emotions and often abruptly shuts them off. He is quick to anger, but just as quick to put on a wicked smile to pretend his outbursts never occurred. It is oddly both easy and hard to tell how he really feels, because he just barely flickers with real emotions, before covering them up into order.

He tends to be a control freak as well, busying himself with as much of his associated work as possible, and only giving other work to those he knows are capable. This is lessened in his advanced field, knowing that people must be qualified to be a coworker, but that doesn't mean he doesn't micromanage. He is unfortunately furthered in this habit by his high position.

Victor is also a germophobe, and has many excessive routines to get himself "clean." He enjoys lab and medical work knowing that the environments are--or, at least, should be--clean and sterile. He refuses to shake hands and typically can get around this with his impending need for personal space.

He has always been incredibly self conscious about how feminine he is. Victor's family grew wealthy in part by their physical appearances, and have always been considered beautiful, and so he was as well. But, to any other eye, his feminine features, light voice, fragility, and "pretty" tail, would never fit in as a masculine figure. Not only this, but he often felt useless to his family, often unable to help around the house, and never able to produce offspring. This was not exactly the case; Victor took up a lot of needle- and handiwork, but this didn't feel like contribution. However, under the kindly influence of his miracle sister, who is closer to him in age than his brothers, he accepted and enjoyed bits of the feminine side of himself and his personality, as he was able to live them around her.

He has difficulty believing in any kind of spirituality. Although he does believe there is a higher being out there, he has a lot of difficulty reconciling it's existence. He sees little purpose to life, and can be rather pessimistic when it comes to hope. He sees life as a cycle of being born, making mistakes for the next generation to learn from, and then finally dying, with little purpose in your own experience.

Victor adores the study of Ancients due to the separation he feels from society. They are innately different and will never truly fit in, and he sadistically retracts a certain pleasure in seeing others experiencing the same. In his mind, he likes the idea of creating "beautiful people," striving for his creations to be aesthetic and perfect, even though the world may never regard them as such. He does not see the process as any different than the world made him: as someone beautiful, only to be rejected and deemed useless.

About

Victor grew up in Viradise, with his parents and three siblings, of whom Victor is the second youngest (two older brothers and a younger sister). He was (painfully) born with his tail modification and is unable to retract the tail into human legs. It is incredibly painful for him to attempt to transform into his Shrimp form, and he has only ever done so a few times as a result. He was unable to walk for the first few years of his life, as the legs were too weak, and struggled into his teen years. He infrequently has days where he has difficulty walking due to strain, and is usually forced to stay in bed in those cases. He enjoys sewing and knitting on these days.

Victor's parents were wealthy, and sent both him and his siblings to college, and it was there Victor realised his passion for the medical field. He pursued medical studies, and soon went on to attend a prestigious college in Genora for medical research, which is where he was initially discovered by the Medical Institute. He keeps in limited contact with his parents, but sees his sister relatively often.

He lives in a somewhat small, yet nicely decorated house near the Institute. It was built by his parents for him exclusively, and features very broad doorways and ceilings. It has a Victorian style to it, and Victor keeps it incredibly tidy. It is two bedrooms, two bath, and it has a dining room, kitchen, and parlor otherwise. He has a personal nurse who aids him when necessary. Each morning, he is taken by a custom carriage to the Institute that is pulled by two horses.

Victor’s current research is regarding Ancients. He was a key contender to the initial builds of Bolt. He namely focuses on the construction of Ancient bodies, and the studies surrounding organ grafting. His current projects are Patient 009 (“Galaga”), Patient 010 (“Prismarine”), and Patient ??? ("Scherzo")

Trivia

• Being from Viradise, he has an accent compared to the others in Genora.
• His personality and story is inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, in addition to the scientist members of Organization XIII from Kingdom Hearts (Ansem, Vexen, and Zexion).
• He occasionally smokes when he is stressed, but only outside, because he hates the way it smells.
• He is far sighted and uses reading glasses to see up close.

Design Notes

• You can always simplify his tail!
• Victor is seven feet, four inches tall, and is about eight-and-a-half feet long. He is about the size of a car, please keep this in mind if you're drawing him, especially next to others!
