Before Slumber

Faye was one of the many children of the Fell Dragon Sombron. His mother, unfortunately, wasn't much better than his father. She sought power, esteem, and safety for herself above all else; thus she often neglected Faye and left him in the hands of others while pursuing and obeying Sombron. Faye didn't really know his mother as she ended up dying at some point. Though he never got a clear answer as to why or how, as he grew up he became increasingly certain Sombron had something to do with it. After all it was because of him that his many other siblings were murdered, so it only seemed natural to believe.

Over time Faye would begin to make a name for himself and come to be seen as exceptional. This, he knew, was a double edge sword. Being well known and consistantly reliable meant he would live longer; Sombron would see him as useful, and he would not be discarded so quickly as the others were. But he knew he would also be given the harder missions and, should he fail, all eyes would be on him... meaning a swifter end if he made any mistakes. Simultaniously at this time Faye would obtain a greater awareness of himself and his feelings. He came to recognize that, above all else, he felt incredibly lonely. He had no one to rely on... his siblings would all die in time and any others loyal to Sombron (as well as him) would be more likely to rat him out than provide any sort of comfort. He truly only had himself to rely on.

Faye would become increasingly angry which was one emotion Sombron seemed to find no issue with, the one he could express freely. He couldn't be sad, he couldn't feel fear, joy seemed impossible to obtain; but he could, at least, express himself through anger. This, in time, would lead to his undoing. With anger came rash decisions and more mistakes. Most were small and insignificant... until he lost an important battle. He knew then he could never go back. If he was going to die he would rather it be on his own terms... rather than being gruesomely torn apart by corrupted. So he fled.

It wasn't long after he fled that Faye found himself in a picturesque place. Somewhere completely unlike Gradlon... even the very air seemed so different. There he would meet another lonely soul; one perhaps even worse off than himself. The Divine Dragon Lumera was shocked, of course, and Faye was just as shocked when she welcomed him openly. He knew that she knew who he was... but even if it was a trick of some kind he couldn't bring himself to care. In her he found an irreplacable connection, and with her help he also found a glimmer of hope. He would take the fight to Sombron chancing that maybe... maybe if he succeeded, he and Lumera would find some ounce of peace. He would, of course, pay the price for that decision.

1000 Years Later

Faye would awake with foggy memories of his past. The surroundings he found himself in were completely unfamiliar, and in it were unfamiliar faces. He only knew his name and the whole thing made him... well, anxious. Somewhere deep down he struggled with trusting people he knew nothing about; an instinct that doing so could put him in danger. But he surpressed such thoughts knowing that, with his mind clouded as it was, he was even less likely to survive on his own.

Over time, though, his memories would slowly begin to come back to him. Though smaller details and older memories would likely be lost forever, he saw visions of horrible and terrifying things. Visions of himself... unrecognizable to what he was like now. These he would keep to himself for as long as possible. He didn't want to acknowledge or believe them, fearing it would ruin everything he'd gained in the present.
