Franklin

Reclusive and paranoid, Franklin lives in a constant state of distrust and suspicion of everything around him. He doesn't often speak unless spoken to and becomes harrowed by social interaction, having either a flat, apathetic affect or seeming agitated and restless to others.

You could say that while he has a side that is meek and quick to hide and attempt to make himself seem smaller, he can also display a side that is more cold and detached, one that always urges to intellectualize and reject any displays of emotion. Most of the time, he's quiet and begs to be left alone, closing himself off to reality entirely. He often flips back and forth between considering himself lower than his peers and thinking of himself as the only one that "truly gets it", though it's always constant that he sees himself as something other- an animal completely separate from the human race, and there is always inside him a lingering feeling that he's not truly human, and more than that, he's afraid that everyone else can tell. As such, he's taken on voyeuristic qualities throughout his life, developing a fascination for watching and studying the behavior of people, more as a 'spectator' of a television show or a ghost phasing through a crowd than a real human.

He feels a certain degree of detachment to his own emotions, too, and has a hard time figuring out what he's feeling. Although he's a photographer, arguably a 'creative' hobby, he actually struggles greatly with lateral thinking and conceptualizing any abstract concepts. Generally, his manner of thinking and rationalizing is always external and dependent on something tangible. This also contributes to him often following a strict routine and trying to make the best use of his time that he can. He dislikes deviations and changes of plan, and struggles with doing things with no previous planning.

Frank is introspective, maybe too much so, therefore despite his lack of emotional intelligence he actually has a somewhat acute sense of intuition, often picking up on patterns and processing information in the 'background' of his mind with ease.

His camera is worth talking about too because it is pretty much an extension of his body. His camera is his way of perceiving his world. Instead of being a tool, he considers it a body part. It gives him something tangible to parse and understand the people around him and their emotions. For having a weak capacity for creativity, his photography acts as a substitute for his memories and emotions when his own brain fails.

Despite struggling with socializing, he's really good at blending in around a crowd and not being noticed. He often makes an effort to not leave an impression on others and to be forgotten as soon as he leaves. He hates the idea of being perceived and judged by others. He thinks everyone is out to get him or is judging him.

His pervasive feelings of alienation and disconnection to people make it impossible for him to connect with others. He hasn't had a friend in many years. He's a bit misanthropic.

He likes to put himself in bad situations where he knows he'll be in physical or emotional pain because he feels like he has something to atone for.
