Esmeralda lost her parents at a young age. Due to their families loathing each other, she was thrown into an orphanage and forgotten. To her luck, the family she found there was much better than the snakes her parents grew up surrounded by; and soon she started doing all sorts of mischief to avoid being adopted and taken away from these she loved. A lot of her 'siblings' moved away, never to be seen again, but her 'mother' remained a constant in her life. Once she came of age, she asked to remain at the orphanage and help out around the place. That's how she still lives now, taking care of the children who arrive and of the house she loves so much.
