Aggression

Sabre is, first and foremost, an aggressive cat. There's no need for her to pretend otherwise; she knows exactly how she behaves and isn't ashamed of it in the least. She's confident, self-assured, and typically itching for a fight or some other sort of challenge to sink her fangs into -- any verbal altercation is an excuse for her to get into a brawl. Sabre adores feeling powerful and likes it when others are afraid of her, although she can get a bit offended when cats she'd never raise a paw against seem scared of her.

Intellect

Sabre's not the brightest cat around, but she's not exactly stupid either. She doesn't have the patience for meticulous planning, preferring to attack first and ask questions later, but her intuition is unmatched. Her instincts save her from a fair number of ambushes, and can also assist Sabre in tracking cats despite her messed-up sense of smell. Occasionally, this hypervigilance can have unintended consequences -- in worst-case scenarios, it leads to her lashing out at individuals who approach her from behind. That's one of the only things which leads to Sabre feeling guilt, and after any such incident she often hides away for a long time.

Social

She's also no slouch in the social department: while she does have a hair-trigger temper, Sabre also knows how to have a good time, and can take some good-natured ribbing. Sabre isn’t necessarily egotistical by nature, but will often talk herself up in conversations to entertain both herself and others. She never likes to get too close to others, though, mostly out of fear of hurting them, which leads to her having very few friends – only acquaintances. She trusts very few cats, but would trust them with her life.

Others' Perception

Friends

Sabre has few friends, but the few that she does have generally agree that she is a loyal albiet scary companion.

Strangers

Sabre has a reputation amongst cats of the Big City; most of them tend to be nervous around her. They know what she does for a living.

Enemies

Sabre's enemies rarely live long enough to have much of an opinion on her.

I will burn with a light of my own... !

Sabre was born to two loners -- her mother Chickadee and her father Volkswagen -- who lived a bit outside of the Big City in a wooded area. While at first things were happy, Sabre's unretractable claws began to get in the way. She accidentally scratched both of her parents multiple times, and very quickly began to be pushed away whenever she would try and give either of them physical affection. Her loneliness and alienation from her parents only began to get worse when her mother became pregnant again, and gave birth to her younger siblings, Sova and Jungle. Neither of them had the same problems Sabre had with her claws, and so her parents quickly began to lavish attention on them and ignore Sabre even more.

She tried not to feel resentful, really, and did her best to help take care of her little siblings. She tried her best to be gentle, too, but one day when she and Sova were playfighting Sabre cut her pretty harshly across the face. Immediately, Sabre's parents descended upon her, claiming that she was dangerous for her brother to be around and that she needed to leave. She left, but came back the following day... and her parents were gone.

Sabre resigned herself to being alone forever. She wandered the streets for a while, but was soon starstruck by the idea of AlleyClan, and asked to join. Due to her age -- around 10 moons -- she had to do a much gentler version of the Warrior's Assessment to be accepted into AlleyClan.

Oh, why can't I excel at something?

Once she was made a member of AlleyClan, Sabre -- now given the name Snappaw -- set about trying to prove herself as much as possible. Maybe she was good for nothing but fighting, but she could be good at fighting. She was apprenticed to a Lovesick, a recently-returned AlleyClan warrior, and while Snappaw's more... aggressive tendancies somewhat annoyed Lovesick, the two formed a tight bond. Snappaw was ready to be the best AlleyClan apprentice she could be. However, she very quickly hit a stumbling block: A smug, pompous stumbling block by the name of Fruitpaw.

Fruitpaw had been a member of AlleyClan since kithood, and right from the start he and Snappaw did not get along. They were both natural show-offs, which led them to come into conflict as there was only so much attention to get around. Snappaw was bothered by Fruitpaw thinking he was better than her for being born in AlleyClan, and Fruitpaw was bothered by Snappaw thinking she knew everything despite being an AlleyClan cat for such a short time. Very quickly, they got wrapped up in their intense rivalry. What neither of them noticed was that putting all of their attention into their feud began to alienate them from their peers, Switchpaw and Wafflepaw. When before, Fruitpaw was at least relatively friendly with all of his fellow apprentices, after the two of them began to up the ante everyone drifted away from them.

I've got the strangest feeling... this isn't our first time around.

Snappaw passed her Warrior's Assessment -- to find and rough up some specific Polix cats -- with flying colors, and was made a warrior alongside Fruitpaw, much to her displeasure. Snappaw was made Snapdragon, and Fruitpaw was made Fruitpunch. They carried their rivalry into their warriorship, always competing to go on the most patrols or win the most fights. Some cats found it amusing, but most began to find it incredibly irritating.

On a routine border patrol, Snapdragon and her Clanmates were attacked by a massive dog. Whereas everyone else fled to safety, Snapdragon stood her ground, believing that she could win the fight. She was correct in that assumption, but was severely injured after the battle, sporting an especially nasty wound on her back. Snapdragon needed medical attention, fast, but what she didn't know was that her patrol had presumed her dead without even looking. Despite her combat prowess, Snapdragon didn't have any friends within AlleyClan -- and every AlleyClan member knew that what really got you ahead was networking. No one went out to look for her.

No one except Fruitpunch.

He found her bleeding out next to the body of the dog she had killed, and was furious that AlleyClan hadn't even sent out any patrols. Although she was definitely hesitant to accept his help at first, Snapdragon let Fruitpunch walk her back to camp, where she was finally able to get treatment. She recovered, but was left with a nasty scar across her back. After that day, they started to become friends... which, of course, spiraled out of control just like their rivalry had, ramping up and up until once again they only really talked to each other and no one else. Still, at least them having that obsessive sort of friendship was mildly less annoying to AlleyClan than them being rivals.

AlleyClan had never been a stranger to scraps with other groups or gangs, even discounting the Polix. During one such battle, a foe had Fruitpunch pinned, and Snapdragon barely managed to tackle them to the ground before Fruitpunch could be killed. She, of course, took revenge rather brutally, finally paying him back for rescuing her from that dog all those moons ago... but after the fight she wondered why her blood was still roaring in her ears when Fruitpunch thanked her.

Talk me up, talk me down. Talk too long -- I'll stick around.

Around the time of Pennystar's ascension to leadership, Snapdragon and Fruitpunch were both approached by the AlleyClan medicine cat Miss, who was also the 'mafia boss' basically running the Big City. She offered them a job taking out hits on cats who had crossed her, taking into consideration their lack of attachment to AlleyClan and... mild propensity for violence. Snapdragon and Fruitpunch ended up agreeing, leaving AlleyClan to live as loners who worked full-time for Miss; although they still showed up to most of the parties AlleyClan hosted. Sabre took on her previous name of Sabre, as did Fruitpunch, reclaiming his kithood name of Sasha. Sabre and Sasha began to accrue a reputation within the Big City, and most cats with the sole exception of absolute newcomers to the city know to stay out of their way.

The most recent job which Sabre and Sasha have been given is certainly an oddity. Miss has asked them to bodyguard a cat without a reputation, a cat who no one seems to know anything about and whom has managed to accrue the favor of arguably the most feared cat in the Big City. They've been asked to guard an odd young cat named Six.

Sabre tends to keep herself at arm's length from others, believing that it is too easy for her to hurt them with her claws, teeth, and general large stature. Those who she lets into her life she tends to get overwhelmingly attached to.
