Yoriko's Links
Being in the same grade, Yoriko sees Asuna a lot in school. She always thought the latter was awkward and weird, so she stayed away from her a lot and only talked to her when she approached her for whatever reason. Asuna, in spite of Yoriko's initial impressions of her, was never talked about behind her back. However; after becoming a Phantom Thief herself, Yoriko reaches out to Asuna and apologizes for how she viewed her before. She tries to look into Asuna's writing, impressed that she could write so well. After becoming friends, Yoriko often tried to help Asuna take care of herself.
Oh she used to HATE Kiku. The girl acted like she had the world weighing down on her shoulders and was way too angry. Needless to say, she liked it when Kiku got mad at the small things, often indirectly bullying her into getting mad. When Yoriko became a Phantom Thief, she became patient with Kiku, despite her anger issues. Learning to genuinely love and care for her, she wants to help Kiku get better if there is anything wrong with her. However; she starts to become afraid of Kiku because of her own closeness to Kazunari Kohara.
To put it simply, Kiku does not like Yoriko. While she does her best to tolerate her, Kiku often finds herself rolling her eyes every time Yoriko speaks, and just generally doesn't want anything to do with her. It irritates Kiku that Yoriko thinks there is something wrong with her, and she'd really much rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than deal with her.
She never even knew Nanami existed until she became a Phantom Thief and had her own change of heart. If she were still "Old Yoriko", then she would have insulted and made fun of Nanami until he got mad or cried about it. She got scared when he got excited over her hair, but eventually, she let him fawn over it knowing he would never hurt her. She thinks Nanami has to cool it down with the opposition and use his head for once, but when he needs help, she'll offer. She cares, after all.
For Nanami, Yoriko is. . . different. Something about her is slightly unnerving and he can't help but feel she looks down on him, often feeling as though she treats him like a child. While he can understand that his opposition can seem childish, it's his own way of figuring himself out, and it makes him a little uncomfortable when she chides him for doing that. Also trusting Kazunari, the feud between the two has made Yoriko a bit more unsettling for him. If it's one thing Nanami likes about her, though, it's her hair. It reminds him of mouse ears!
Childhood friends but have since then drifted apart due to differences. When Yoriko thought she no longer needed Sayo around, her world fell apart. When they both became Phantom Thieves, Yoriko, now all alone, wanted to reconnect with Sayo, saying she missed her and she wants to become friends again. Yoriko, by all means, would die for Sayo.
Yoriko was Sayo's childhood friend, and someone she relied on more heavily then she had wished. Not realizing the burden she put on her friend, the two drifted apart and Sayo was forced to deal with her issues on her own. For a long time, Sayo felt betrayed by Yoriko, and begun to hate her, but after becoming a Phantom Thief, she overcame her own feelings and was able to properly apologize to Yoriko and reconcile with her.
Hot damn was she TERRIFIED of Josuke. Even as a bully, she avoided him like plague in school, not wanting him to beat her up in any way or even get mad at her. Whatever situation had to do with Josuke, she avoided getting involved. When he reached out to her to tell her to avoid a certain man, she almost cried. Josuke contributing to help save Yoriko in her ex's Palace made her think twice about him, and her own change of heart made her braver to reach out and be friends with Josuke. She asks him for some self-defense techniques, and treats him out to eat as payment. So far, Yoriko has grown to love and adore Josuke as a person and and a friend.
Oh you fuckin' know that if Old Yoriko found out that Nagisa is trans, she would NOT stop making fun of her and calling her a pervert. However; she never knew Nagisa was trans until after becoming a Phantom Thief herself, wherein she still could not grasp the concept of it, but instead, tried her best to support Nagisa in transitioning. Despite Nagisa being a punk and all, Yoriko finds her very fun to be around, and genuinely cares for her.
Nagisa was never quite sure what to make of Yoriko, be it her initial demeanor or all around presence. They had never interacted before involvement with the Phantom Thieves, so any impressions of her were never directly made until then. While her overall lack of tact tends to make her say things she probably really shouldn't, she still wants to reach out and get to genuinely know the Yoriko she knows at this moment. While she does find it a bit hard to completely explain everything, she appreciates her support nonetheless, every now and then asking her for clothing advice.
