Brief History

Yaiseen Lakhmae is the older of the Yaiseen twins, also known as the miracle twins for the miracle of their birth, given how difficult it is for shooter couples to conceive.

As a child, Lakhmae wanted for nothing.  She had the best most wonderful toys, books and slaves; and attended the most prestigious schools in Shooter society.  Rather leave childrearing to the servants, Lakhmae’s parents were attentive and hands-on.  There was always the unspoken expectation that she would take over the family business someday.

From the moment they could walk, Lakhmae’s father would often bring his daughters with him on business trips, showing them the ins and outs of slaving, shaping Lakhmae into the heir he expected her to be.  The young Lakhmae was shaken to see the pure brutality of some of the slave trainers and was frightened by the enjoyment that seemed to spark in their eyes during cruel punishments.

To make her parents happy, Lakhmae threw herself into her studies and eventually she graduated with a Business and Human Resources Honours from the University of the Capital.  Together, she and Minmae laid out their plans to revitalise the Yaiseen Chattel business, by turning towards principles of “ethical slavery”.  Over the next year, under the watchful but indulgent eye of their father, the twins worked towards giving better quality training to slaves under their care and refusing to sell to buyers with reputations for killing their slaves.  The business has thrived under Lakhmae and Minmae’s care, though it remains to be seen whether it will be a long-term success.

Lakhmae oversees the buying part of the business, going to markets and only purchasing slaves in good health from suppliers who had reputations for being careful not to damage goods during raids.  In order to better communicate with new purchases, she learned to speak standard draconic, though she hardly uses that skill.  She’s especially good at placing slaves in suitable training, allowing them to explore their natural talents.

Family Secrets

 What Lakhmae and her sister don’t know is that they aren’t actually the “miracle twins” they’re touted to be.  The twin shooters were taken from their mother, a slave handmaiden, at birth and raised as members of the Yaiseen family.  To keep up the illusion, their adoptive mother hid away for 9 months.  They aren’t the only children fathered by the Yaiseen patriarch – but are the only pair that turned out to be shooters.  They may well have blood siblings who are slaves without knowing it.
