basically in a last-ditch effort to escape the Rot™️ they created themself an organic body, transferred their consciousness, and left their decaying structure behind in the nick of time. They remember some things about who they were, but a significant chunk of their long-term memory was lost.
They struggle to survive and communicate. They understand the ancient language but can’t speak it in this body, and they don’t understand slugcat language so they can’t speak that either. They are also not used to having an organic body, so things like movement, eating, etc are all new and overwhelming for them
