Cats of the Windswept Moors, is their name. A bit of a AU on the Warriors universe, in which a group of cats broke away from WindClan's history and onto uncharted territory. Residing on a moor far from the forest territories, the cats settled down and founded their own group. It largely went unnamed, but soon the native cats called them grasscats, which became a disrespectful term. Other cats would speak in regards to them with awe, calling them the cats who lived on the windswept moorland, as many of the local inhabitants sought out real shelter. Although the group did build their shelter and made a camp, fully grown cats would sleep out in the open and underneath the stars, keeping true to WindClan's desire to be closest to their ancestors. They became known as such.

Instead of warriors as the all encompassing term, Cats of the Windswept Moors had two main roles: moor-runners and tunnelers. These went on to have two subdivisions for both, combatants and hunters. As the name suggest, combatants for both roles were trained on the grounds they hail from. Moor-runner combatants learned how to fight above ground while tunneler combatants were trained to fight underneath, as well as least track the tunnels and ambush intruders by coming up from a burrow. Moor-runner hunters ran after their prey, and prey was plentiful during the warmer moons. However, like the book series intended, the cats relied on the tunneler's underground skills to keep the clan well-fed through the cold moons as they could track down and hunt prey that shelter down below the windswept moors.

The colony accepted new members as well, but were originally very exclusive on what newcomers may have been- tunneler or moor-runner. Cats with short fur, wide paws, and slim figures were assigned to be tunnelers, but could choose if they wanted to be a combatant or hunter. Cats would also often choose mates the same as their role, and a tunneler choosing a moor-runner and vice versa as a mate was uncommon (and looked down upon). Some cats would break away from the mold, but nothing drastic happened to change things entirely happened.

Soon, a very harsh leaf-bare leaves the colony reliant on tunnelers for prey. Many cats had died that season and the following seasons, as they had overhunted prey in leaf-bare and didn't leave too many to repopulate. Moor-runners would diversify their skills to hunt birds (WindClan already hunts birds, but when they first arrived, they only hunted rabbits as rabbits were so plentiful that there was no need to hunt birds.) The following leaf-bare left the tunneler 'leader', to speak out about moor-runners not pulling their weight to what they bring to the clan. Oftentimes (biased stories) only saw moor-runner apprentices clumsily training and failing to catch birds and etc.
