Tomes and scrolls were the main adornment of the opulent captain's cabin on the sky pirate vessel, the Somber Spark.
Among the piles of tomes and scrolls in the far back of the cabin by the chalky windows was an imposing wooden desk said to be carved out of a tree plucked from the Diavore Gardens; and behind the desk perched an older man, his face buried in the hefty tome laying on the desk. He hardly ever stirred save for the occasional sip of the lukewarm coffee or the scrawl of a quill. His hair was the color of snow and eyes were the color of the murky waters of the seas neighboring the vast deserts of Lavias.
He was none other than Umber, the captain of the dingy Somber Spark. Despite growing up on the vessel, he had no general interest in being a sky pirate like his father, Kaine, but he still took up the helm and became the captain when his father passed away a few years ago.
Umber had a yearning for knowledge though and always sought out to learn everything he could; never wanting to live the life of a sky pirate like his father. Utilizing the vessel, he embarked onward to the farthest reaches of the earth to explore and learn all he could of the world, writing everything he studied into the shabby books that now clutter the dusty bowels of the captain's cabin.
