Nakht

A liar knows that he is a liar, but one who speaks mere portions of truth in order to deceive is a craftsman of destruction.

The Children of Ma'at are revered as near-royalty among the god-born, due both to their regal beauty and the nature of their lineage from the the goddess of truth and balance. As a thief, unattached to any god-born court, Nakht relies on this reverence. It is so much easier to steal valuables that have been freely offered after all.

Measuring a Soul

While Nakht wasn't raised in the gilded cages of court royalty like most of his kin, he was still rather sheltered as a child. Raised by an Apophis priest on the outskirts of Aaru, Nakht was never far from his guardian's side and allowed few freedoms under the guise of keeping him safe.

As he grew up, he began to see through the priest's cleverly twisted words to see the lie beneath: the priest was using him for political gain. Looking to take back his freedom, Nakht set out on his own in the middle of the night.

Using the societal inclination to trust his kind and a dazzling ability to lie, Nakht has become quite the successful thief. Posing as a diplomat for distant city states, as many of the Children of Ma'at with their truth detection abilities do, Nakht garners favors where ever he goes.

But Nakht is careful to let no one get too close. While he accepts invitations and offers to escort him on his travels, Nakht frequently abandons travelling parties in the desert. He takes what he needs and destroys supplies that forces his companions to turn back so that he may vanish into the night to start his con anew.
