Lady of the sea
Formerly cursed as a vicious monster, Victoria tries to survive and possibly enjoy her new life as halfling. This proves hard, as the world has a lot of prejudice and hate towards her kind. But luckily she has the help of a prince who was shunned from his kingdom by a mad occupant. Together they travel the lands, lending a helping hand along the way where it's needed, and maybe some bonding amongst themselves?
PERSONALITY
In the beginning, Victoria isn’t a huge fan of showing or sharing her feelings, though they more than often shine through. To a stranger she might seem like a posh halfling.
To those who eventually get close to her, she’s a motherly figure and comes to care deeply for her friends. Always ready to lend an ear or some bandage, she tries her best to be a compassionate person. She can be a little stern but comes off as confident in her choices and values.

I keep my head high, and I keep my promises.
How am I expected to find my way in life when my body can't even decide if it is human or monster?
Are you positive? You'd be able to lay your love on me? Every tentacle? Every time you look at these eyes? I am inclined to not believe you.

STORY
Backstory
Whether Victoria has a backstory or not is a tricky matter. As a halfling she is a merge of an animal minding its business and the soul of a passed human. Her squid part was just going about its day in the ocean when it suddenly got turned into a monster and bound to a tower ruin at the edge of a cliff. Cursed to guard a treasure and kill any that came near.
Her human soul comes from a noblewoman who lived not far from said tower. After setting her friend from a lower standing up with a nobleman, she discovered the man wasn’t as good of a person as she thought he was. She attempted to help her friend get out of the relationship again, but the nobleman disliked her efforts and had his men get rid of her instead. She died being chased off the very cliffs beside the tower.
After breaking free from her monster curse, Victoria does not actively remember her past selves, but their skills, personalities and interests may pass on to her or affect her. She swims flawlessly, loves sea food, has expensive taste and speaks elegantly. Some memories may come back in flashes, but this is rare.
Richard frees her (by accident)
As a monster, Victoria wasn’t among the hardest ones to slay, but still a challenge. She had 12 tentacles and powerful ink magic. One of her opponents turned out to be Richard, an adventurer who took on the challenge of slaying her. Though he makes a misstep and falls on his butt, which happens to be the same place where her cursed trinket sat. When the trinket breaks, the curse breaks.
Suddenly a more humanoid creature stands before him and looks just as confused as he is. As it is the middle of the winter, Richard offers his cloak to her, not fully realizing that she is what is left of the monster. He offers to help her get to a safer destination. SKILLS
Ink manipulation
Level: Novice to experienced
Her hands can produce and move liquid ink around. Think ATLA waterbending, just with ink. The ink comes from ink glands in her hands. Though in dire situations she can cut through her skin to release more ink.
Swimming
Level: Expert
As part of Victoria once being a squid living in the ocean, she is naturally skilled at swimming and can stay underwater for several more minutes than normal humans. She is at her most quick and elegant in a liquid environment..
Fashion
Level: Talented
Victoria has an eye for things that are pretty and shiny. She adores jewelry, pearls being her favorite. Her taste in dresses is expensive, but on point, often making her among the most well dressed at events.
Artistic skills
Level: Talented
With a keen eye for detail and color coordination, Victoria shows a general artistic talent. When living in a castle, she takes up painting, sewing and embroidery. She is however a bigger fan of guidelines and realism than creativity.
Literacy
Level: Experienced
Because part of her stems from the soul of a noblewoman, she knows how to read and write. Her vocabulary is quite advanced and she reads signs and notes with ease.
Dance
Level: Learning
Although a bit harder with six tentacles for legs, Victoria works on her dance moves when she is able to. Luckily her travel companion is an avid dancer. She loves ballroom dances, and dislikes upbeat dancing as it’s hard for her to keep up.
Diplomacy
Level: Learning
In their travels, Victoria learns a lot about helping both humans and halflings get along. This later helps her in her position as queen where she and Richard are tasked with various ethical and tough problems to solve.
Leadership
Level: Learning
When Richard and Victoria take the Miller throne, they are thrown into a steep learning curve about how to lead a people.
Manners
Level: Experienced
Also stemming from her noblewoman soul is a natrual understanding of manners within a more fancy setting.
RELATIONSHIPS
RICHARD
travel companion / husband
Being the one who broke her spell, Richard is the first human Victoria meets as a halfling. She finds him a bit immature and reckless at first, but comes to appreciate his sweet antics and big heart. The two gradually fall in love and eventually marry.
RITA
mortal enemy
Seeing as Rita is always ready to draw blood to get what she wants, which is the crown, Victoria quickly becomes a target of hers. Being on her killer radar constantly makes Vic build a hatred for her partner’s sister.
FERRET
best friend
Who would have thought that a ferret would be qualified to oversee a castle and watch the children of Rich and Victoria. She has never regret giving him a chance, and sees him as one of her closest friends as they both love order and discipline.
ESME
good friend
Esme and Victoria naturally hit a good tone when they met, even though it started off as threatening. They share a love and respect for the sea. Esme admires Victoria's features, and Victoria admires Esme's free lifestyle
NECROC
good friend
Although they meet under bad conditions, Victoria befriends this misunderstood crocodile and convinces her there is a better life for her out there than villainy. After helping Necroc find her purpose, they try to keep in contact.
JOPHIEL
enemy
A more stuck up bird with a clear god-complex is hard to find. Joph has caused many headaches for Rich and Vic, not just metaphorically. Victoria dislikes his narcissism and inability to leave them alone.
EEP
friend
This small but evidently brave companion of Rajah’s proves herself to be a good friend to both the kingdom and to Vic. Observing the rodent girl grow more confident and skilled in Rajah’s care makes Victoria happy.
RAJAH
mutual respect
Victoria admires Rajah's ability to pull through what life has handed him so far, and for taking a halfling under his wing. They don’t talk or discuss much, but often exchange a nod in each other's direction when passing.
DRAWING TIPS
Style: Pretty dresses and gowns. Often a feather or sea motif. Likes wearing blue to match Rich.
Typical environment: Medieval travel environment, so forests and small towns. Later resides in a castle. Sea themed stuff is also nice!
Can be seen with: Richard: Her travel companion. They become friends then love interests, then fall in love, then marry.
Rita: Tries to murder both her and Rich a lot.
Please note:
- She does NOT have ears! Her ear jewelry are attatched to her hair tentacle.
- Her tongue is long and pointy
- She has freckles on her body but none on her face
- She has six tentacles as hair and six as her legs. (Tho im not too fuzzy if theres one or two more.)

TRIVIA
Misfit
Victoria dislikes not being fully human or squid and feels uncomfortable around human crowds at first, as they shun or bully her. After learning more about the world she lives in, she accepts herself to an extent though.
An eye for shinies
Jewelry and sparkly things draws Victorias attention very easily and can be distracting to her. She loves getting her hands on pearls, diamonds, gold and silver. She also knows when false treasure is presented to her.
Unnamed
When snapping out of her monster state, she does not have nor want a name. Though Rich eventually suggests the name Victoria from the word ”victory”, which she settles with.
Noble speak
Because her soul stems from a dead noblewoman, she naturally expresses herself with an advanced vocabulary. This surprises Rich, who did not expect a former monster to talk this way.
Team Miller!
Victoria takes the Miller side of all their wars and participates in them with her Ink magic as her weapon.
Night Vision
A handy squid feature lies in her eyes. She can see quite well in the dark, and possibly far if the conditions allow it.
Halfling
Victoria is a halfling, which is a merge of an animal host and a human soul. They usually start off as a vicious monster, as they stem from a curse. If they are murdered in their monster state they will re-spawn as a different monster. To become a halfling, a specific cursed trinket among their treasure must be broken.
Squidlings
Richard and Victoria eventually start a family together and have many children. Like, a LOT of children. Some have tentacle features, some have blue eyes. Some like to play dress-up, while others practice the sword, while others simply climb the ceiling. Luckily the couple are surrounded by friends and royal staff.
Fears
The last thing Victoria wants is her friends being hurt because of her. She is scared of being the cause of the death or injury of someone close to her. Richard’s demise is also a thought that gives her nightmares.
First to the crown
Victoria is the first ever halfling queen in their world, even the first halfling royalty. There have been self-declared halfling royalty before her, but no legitimate crownings with a people in support.
