"Aeran totally flaunts that… but I guess she has good reason to. I’d be flying all over the place if I could, too."
Aeran Female (She/Her) Asexual MBTI TBA Gemini Created November 1, 2014

HEIGHT: 5'8"

AGE: 25

EYES: Brown

HAIR: Dark brownish maroon, one purple streak

SCARS/MARKS: None

Aeran is a 25-year-old of about average height, though her posture and constant stormy expression make her seem a lot more intimidating. Her features, from her nose to her jawline, are sharp and hawkish. She is slim yet tough and muscled. Her eyes are brown, bright like amber when the light hits them. Her hair is a brownish maroon, and a single purple stripe sprouts naturally down the center of her head. She keeps her hair long and whips it behind her with her wind powers to keep it out of the way, so it is often tangled (she'll likely give you a glare if you make any comments about wind-blown hair). Despite spending lots of time outside, she doesn't tan easily. Clothing-wise, she constantly wears a green Eranoctan-style cloak, which has several tears and frayed edges, and a dark green scarf. Underneath she wears a purple undershirt and brown shorts, and roams barefoot.

Aeran makes herself a difficult person to get to know. She doesn't particularly care what others think of her; the only two things that matter to her are maintaining Lythios' approval and carrying out her mission of saving Eranocta. She is a grouchy person who takes a while to warm up to anyone, and she expects them to prove their own worth to her or the cause for her to finally approve of them. She tends to lash out at others without warning, and her mood swings can come across as slightly bipolar. Due to discovering her powers at a young age, and being raised by Lythios from infancy, she has a bit of a god complex. She completely understands her role on Eranocta as a savior and does not make any attempts to downplay her heroics. She adores Lythios completely, with him taking on a fatherly role in her life. Anything he tells her to do, she does, even if it contradicts what she was previously told or already believed. She also grows jealous of those who catch too much of Lythios' attention, which is another reason why she has trouble warming up to new recruits. Despite her prickliness, there is a good heart within her. She is tirelessly driven to save as many lives as possible and do as much as she can to keep the world together, and is always the first to volunteer for tasks (not particularly because she is a risk-taker, but more because she knows things need to be done and that she can do them well). And when her trust is earned, she does her best to push her friends to be the best they can.

Ember Agbayani

175

Friend, fellow Catalyst (later ex-friend)

At first, Aeran didn't think she could ever grow to respect Ember. The matter was out of both of their control—Aeran always felt that fire was the element she should wield, and then along came Ember, who was too afraid of her power to use it to its full potential. Aeran was constantly egging on the anxious Fire Catalyst, until one day during training when Ember snapped, summoning an inferno that badly burned Aeran. From then on, Aeran summoned a sliver of admiration for Ember. As Ember grew more comfortable with using her fire, the relationship between them improved, with Aeran finally giving Ember the playful nickname "little genius" for the way Ember could one-up Aeran in combat through her tendency to strategize. Something about Ember still slightly bothered Aeran, though—perhaps it was the hesitance Ember displayed towards Eranoctan ways, the way she didn't seem to completely believe in Lythios's inherent goodness. Finally, when Ember betrayed the group to side with Kaltath, Aeran found herself blinded by fury, renouncing any friendship they had.

Lythios

175

Father figure, mentor

To Aeran, Lythios was the father she never had. He was the one to give an abandoned child a purpose, and she intends to repay that to him tenfold by swearing her absolute loyalty to him and his cause. Lythios was always gentle and encouraging to her, and they learned a lot about the Catalysts and the link they have to Eranocta as a team. Due to raising her, he was most familiar with her personality and mood swings that were dismissed as Aeran being considered bossy or rude by the others, and was able to soothe her emotional extremes with his powers. Aeran never mouthed off to him and treated him with the utmost respect, even going so far as defending his decisions to the others and encouraging them to be more appreciative of him. Aeran developed her idolatry of him all on her own; he never saw it as a problem. Aeran tends to become jealous of the other Catalysts that occupy too much of his time.

Gravel Clay

175

Friend, fellow Catalyst

Gravel was the first Catalyst recruited after Aeran, and even then, he only joined because he lost a duel to Aeran after his discovery. He's the closest in age to her, but despite his age, vastly lacking in elemental experience relative to her, so she never viewed him as a threat throughout his training. He was a safe kind of companion in her eyes—he lacked the frivolous, troublemaking nature that the following recruits would soon express, and was the calm, quiet sort, ensuring Aeran never felt bothered by him. He's the closest thing she considers to a friend, and she could tolerate talking to him about various things. While the betrayal of Solyss and Ember enraged her, Gravel's betrayal simply left her puzzled, and afterwards, she could never find it in her heart to despise him.

Before Arriving on Eranocta

Much of Aeran's life pre-Eranocta is shrouded in mystery. All that is known is that Lythios sensed the presence of wind on Earth, and when he arrived, he discovered her as an orphan, bending the wind around her. She has never been curious about her Earth life, her birthplace, or her parents, and for all intents and purposes, considers herself an Eranocta-born resident.

The Fire Within

After being brought to Eranocta, Aeran was raised by Lythios and many close servants. She was a wild child, but Lythios was always there to soothe her with his powers. They worked together to expand his temple into a training area, suspecting that more Catalysts were out there, and also began to to unravel the mysteries regarding her connection to the worlds. They determined that the elemental disasters striking Eranocta were evidence of Kaltath's return, and that furthermore, his powers were leaking onto Earth through the Catalysts. Lythios soon sensed the presence of the earth element, but he had his hands full with Aeran, so he was not yet able to investigate. Indeed, one day, Aeran began to have trouble managing her powers, and after releasing her excess energy, it took form as a parrot made of wind, somehow still connected to her; she named it Glory in honor of Lythios. However, several months after initially sensing earth, it vanished. Troubled that something occurred to the person in control, Lythios and Aeran head to Earth to find its owner, but it is three years until they're able to find Gravel, who had sworn off using his powers after learning that doing so had put him on a government watchlist. They recruited and brought him to Eranocta, where they helped guide his training. Over the next several years, the other Catalysts are found and brought over. Aeran, the veteran Catalyst, makes a large effort to show the others the ropes, push them to become as strong as possible, and aid in the repair of various towns decimated by the elemental disasters. Finally, the time comes where they must travel to the archipelago Urdythsh to give up their powers and lock Kaltath away once more; however, Ember, Gravel and Solyss betray the group and are whisked away by Kaltath.

The Fire Unleashed

After the Seal crumbled and the other Catalysts escaped, Aeran became furious and even more dedicated to her task. They regrouped in Rathrae, where Aeran fiercely grilled the remaining Catalysts on their loyalties to ensure nobody else would betray. Aeran became even more commanding, even more intimidating, and Lythios, also stressed by the situation at hand, refused to discipline her. They headed to help a town in eastern Juvenaea—a move encouraged by Aeran, who thought they might run into Kaltath's group while on that side of the continent. Indeed, they crossed paths, and after the task was done, Aeran wasted no time in coming after Kaltath's crew, which retreated into the Charmathe, the massive jungle. Aeran and Val never saw eye to eye before, but now, united in the absolute destruction of their foes, decided to fuel a forest fire to burn them down. For the first time, Aeran begins to scheme behind Lythios' back, believing he isn't doing enough to punish Kaltath and the other Catalysts for their disloyalty. Val offers to pretend to turn traitor in order to feed Lythios' team information, and she agrees, planning on leading a squad to ambush them if Val can lure them west. Their plan is successful, albeit not well-coordinated, and while they fail to capture Kaltath's Catalysts, they gain the (false) information that Kaltath plans to bring his group to the island Jhu. Lythios is not pleased to learn of the plan that occurred in order to obtain the information, but organizes a massive force to head there regardless, finding Kaltath alone. A volcano erupts on the island, seemingly killing Kaltath, and Lythios' crew narrowly escapes. Assuming Kaltath is dead, they go to raid his base and steal back the other Catalysts. In the battle, Tida is "killed," and Lythios orders a retreat, having to restrain Aeran to keep her from fighting on. They begin to head home, only to realize that Kaltath's crew snuck Tida's body away from under their noses, so they storm the base once more. Suddenly, Kaltath is revealed to be alive, and he challenges Lythios to a duel at Urdythsh for control of the Scepter of Hope that can save or destroy the world. Aeran participates in the fight against the others, not being afraid to fight dirty. She sees that Tida was revived, powerless, and is now fighting with Kaltath's crew, but considering her scarcely a threat, ignores her efforts. After Kaltath wins and removes himself and Lythios from the world for good, Aeran finds herself feeling purposeless and helpless for the first time. She flees, trying to reflect on her actions alone. The other Catalysts want to talk to her to request her help to rebuild Eranocta, but whenever she is spotted, she flies away. They are forced to "kill" her in a manner similar to what happened to Tida—when she returns from death, her powers are gone. With her element gone, a lot of her emotional extremes, which were a side effect of the misuse of his element, dissipate, and she is able to aid the others in the rebuild of Eranocta.
Aeran is pronnounced like the name "Erin."
Aeran is proficient in flute-playing; she has a small wooden flute tucked into one of the pockets of her robe. She only plays when alone, usually at night.
