Personality

Specklestar could be described by many as a pain in the tail. He's quiet and prefers to be left alone, getting snappy whenever his peacefulness is disturbed if the disturbance does not relate to his clan’s needs. He has no patience for kits or irresponsible apprentices, and will not hesitate to make it known when he is upset. However, if you stick around long enough without trying to murder him for being a rude bastard, you may find that Specklestar has a heart of gold beyond the thorny barricade of trust issues. In fact, for a certain special lady he can be quite the romantic! However, few have ever seen this side of him, and he has not tried to love since his last mate ran off with a rogue, of all cats! Specklestar has an incredibly hard time opening up to anyone, and while he will protect you with his life as he has sworn to do as the leader of Gorgeclan, he avoids making interpersonal relationships in fear that he will be hurt again. Or, even worse, that he may hurt them. It is not uncommon to see Specklestar spending his free time in the highest cave, gazing at the sky and allowing his mind to wander. He's an intelligent tom, highly inquisitive and quite the problem-solver, so his mind is always rushing with thoughts both old and new. If you're lucky enough to get him talking, you may end up as the unlucky one to listen to one of his philosophical rambles. So, a win-lose situation, truly.

History

Born into Gorgeclan nearly a year and a half before the storms began, Specklestar was born Specklekit to Gorgeclan warriors Cloudpounce and Littlebird alongside one sibling, Condorkit, now Condorheart. Even from a young age, Specklestar was considered to be a promising warrior, with the previous leader thinking highly of him from the moment he first opened his eyes. Stubborn, intelligent, tactile, and driven, Specklestar was quite the opposite of his outgoing and carefree brother, Condorheart. Even as a young apprentice, Specklestar was a loner, not quite identifying with his peers. Perhaps it was his own self conflicting, his own confusion about his purpose in life which led to him avoiding interpersonal relationships. However, whatever it was, he was excluded from the games and chatter of his fellow apprentices, with even his brother eventually learning not to bother trying to bond with the young tom.

Despite this, Specklestar studied vigorously to become a proper warrior, one who would make his parents proud. Unfortunately, just a moon before he became a warrior, his mother took a deadly fall from the height of the cliffside outside the main den during a ruthless storm, just a few months before the worst of the storms began. If Specklestar was a loner before, he became a recluse then. He would disappear for odd amounts of time and speak even less than before, but that changed when he befriended fellow warrior Honeyblaze. She was a slightly older warrior, seven moons his elder, but the second she took an interest in him Specklefoot was head over heels. This would not last, however, and four moons later she disappeared from the clan. It was later discovered that the warrior had left to become a rogue with a rogue tom named Quail. It turned Specklestar bitter, and whatever chance the tom had at becoming an open and kind individual went crumbling down the ravine in his heart left by her betrayal.

Specklestar became the deputy roughly a week after he turned thirty-four moons, and would serve dutifully until the clan's previous leader, Twistedstar, was crushed by a fallen log during a violent earthquake. Specklestar ascended into the position of leader, and, despite his twisted and recluse personality, he had led the clan with dutiful care. Specklestar lost his first life only a few months into his leadership when he was killed while defending a Gorgeclan kit from an invading mountain lion before losing his second life moons later when he took a fall from the cliffside during an earthquake. Despite these two losses, Specklestar understands his duties and will not hesitate to risk his remaining lives to protect his clan, even if it leads to his early and untimely death. Perhaps then he will forget the memory of Honeyblaze, who left a ravine greater than their territory when she abandoned the young tom.
