Wardrobe; Ronan dons flowy cleric-typical garb underneath armor. Outfit description WIP.
Firbolg typical features of the Exandrian flavored cow-person variety (thank you Matthew Mercer). He has a diamond face shape, gray-black monolid eyes, floppy ears, and a handsome little goatee chin tuft.
He has a tail akin to a traditional unicorn tail that's wavy and black at the end.
Usually flat-chested and binding, but can be be drawn with a small chest when in casual/lounge attire.
- Assume his circlet is always on his person (unless he's sleeping I suppose), since that is his holy focus.
- Reminder he is 7'1. A tall, lanky lad when made to stand next to most D&D races. Do not shrink him!
- When visible I like to add a bit of fuzz texture usually at his joint areas, or anywhere that feels right really. Feel free to do that too :) He's soft
Personality | “It's like a.. like a scale. I try to do good where I have before failed.”
Ronan often gives a respectable but distant first impression and is quick to mention his association with the House of the Moon, given it's appropriate or safe (or smart...) to do so. He is kind to others, and when conversing typically does more asking than telling, eager to learn but not so much to share. As long as a person gives Ronan the time of day, he has no reason not to be respectful all the same. He generally is a comforting individual, and will go out of his way to make sure a person that earned his affection knows they are not a burden, include them in activities or decisions, be at their (reasonable) defense, or otherwise according to his own judgments. Though not particulary fond of it, he will pick up the mantle of a leader figure when he feels is necessary, often representing and answering for and to the crew he has found himself with.
Adaptable
Ideally, he’d be planning and always have a relatively clear course of action for what he is doing. He’s not great at spontaneity, but is willing to bend over backwards to make situations work while remaining relatively level-headed and a good sport.
Organized
For most things he does, there is a clear sense of order. It makes him feel at ease, like he has himself together. It's... a control thing. His journal and travel bag are quite orderly, given someone has the chance to look inside.
Calm
It takes a considerable amount of pressure to rile him up. He can think of the amount of times he got red-hot mad on one hand, or had a nervous breakdown. It is less of an organic calm and one of many years of practice at self regulation.
Realistic
Ronan finds no good in outlandish or whimsical ideas with little chance at success and no rational basis. This line of thinking, to him, only leads to dissapoinment, or worse, can cost someone a life. You cannot change a circumstance, but you can make the best of it.
Introverted
Ronan likes his me time. He has a tendency to keep to himself, but that doesn't mean he dislikes conversation or other means of social interaction. He quite likes being social, but on his own terms. Too much social stimulation drains his energy.
Honest
The people that raised him instilled a value of truth. Ronan is not one to deceive without a good reason. He isn't going to lie about his opinions or thought processes, given it's safe to do so. He greatly appreciates honesty from others. Not much is worse than being lied to where it's not necessary.
Religious
He won't be heavy handed or try to proselytize everyone he meets, however, the Moonmaiden does mean a lot to him. He holds a lot of faith in the divine magic she has given him. Ronan prays often, and will give his blessings to those who do not oppose.
Private
He won't go divulging every little detail about himself, only providing answers if kindly asked by those he trusts or in what he perceives as good faith. He has trust issues. Because of this he has difficulty connecting with others past the surface level, and only has a few close friends.
Passive-aggressive
When he is mean, it's so annoyingly passive-aggressive that you almost can't call him out on it without feeling "too sensitive" or unsure about it, perhaps second guessing yourself. Rhetorical questions, tight-lipped smiles, and feigning of ignorance. King of subtle snide remarks that sting.
Repressed
Ronan has a difficult time allowing himself to feel or express emotions and thoughts that are considered "undesirable" or "embarrassing" to those he has relationships with. In short, he tends to bottle everything up inside until it goes away, or bursts.
Savior complex
Like your typical cleric, Ronan is focus on the wellbeing of people. He wants to help others with their problems, big or small, because he has been taught he should do so. However, he can be overbearing or forget to consider whether or not someone wants help. May give advice where it is not wanted.
Own Worst Critic
No one will ever be more annoyed, dissapointed, or frustrated with Ronan than himself. Growing up, he held himself to high standards of success, in part because many expected great things in him and in his future.
- Card games, board games... drinking games
- The beach; the smell and sound of the ocean, walking in the shallow water
- The night time; tends to stay up later if able
- Reading books, with romance novels and relavant historical texts favored
- Alcohol (mainly mead) and the feeling of being buzzed/drunk
- Liars, deceivers, those who take advantage of anothers good will
- Uncleanliness/feeling dirty; rough living grates on him after a while
- Getting interrupted mid thought, or having to fight to get a word in
- Being stared at, or otherwise having too much attention directed towards himself
- Those who are inconsiderate/devaluing of others time or effort
- More recently, being expected to take on a more leaderly role
This part of his history will be expanded on as it is revealed in campaign.
This part of his history will be expanded on as it is revealed in campaign.
Ronan is sent to Red Larch to assist in an outbreak. There he meets Miach, a traveling monk-doctor of sorts. They got well acquainted, working closely together; at one point Ronan took care of Miach when he fell ill. They learn about eachothers respective knowledge and abilities whilst working together, and from it comes a newly formed friendship. Miach leaves with Ronan to Waterdeep to report back to the House of the Moon. There, they meet Piper, a young tabaxi desperately trying to be cured of a curse of some sort. He assists him to his best ability to get the help and knowledge he seeks, but nothing the church can do works for him. The tabaxi sticks to the two thereafter, but Ronan doesn't mind the new company.
After a short time in Waterdeep, Ronan's aid is called upon by Galryl Stonemantle, an old merc pal, for a paid supply escort to the town of Phandalin. There, they would hand the items off to an establishment called Barthen's. Miach and Piper, decide to accompany Ronan for the promise of payment or otherwise...
To be added onto as more sessions occur and I have more material to work with :)
- The last decision I made for his character was his name because I'm so very indecisive when naming characters. Firbolg's (or Fir bolg, rather) are of Irish myth, so I decided on an Irish name. Ronan means "little seal", "a pledge", and "a promising oath". Very fitting if you ask me :D He picked it himself from one of his favorite books.
- He has a slight irish accent! In a similar vein to RTGame, I suppose (that's what my friends said, anyhow). I'm not very good and doing it in game, but that's my vision.
- His enneagram type is 1w9 (The Optimist) and his Myers-Briggs type indicator is ISFJ (The Defender). For the Big Five Personality test, he scored highest in conscientiousness. His in-game astrological sign is the Sign of the Stone.
- Ronan's deity is Selûne. The Moonmaiden, Lady of Silver, She Who Guides, Moonmother, what have you. His clerical abilities are of the Twilight domain, but she also falls under Life and Knowledge. He likes her sooo much.
- 4/5 of Liana Flores's songs on her album "recently" are on his playlist. Not sure how it happened like that, was not intentional. Really funny to me.
Miach
Relationship: Traveling companion, good friend, romantic interest
The two are often seen within the near vicinity of eachother, conversing, sitting quietly, playing card games, or otherwise. Ronan met Miach in the town of Red Larch where he was sent to assist in an epidemic. While working together, they became well acquainted, and Ronan quickly grew a fondness for the withdrawn goliath. When their time in Red Larch concluded, he offered for Miach to return to Waterdeep with him, as Ronan wanted a little more time together. They have been together since.
Piper
Relationship: Recent traveling companion, peculiar new friend
Ronan met Piper at his home temple in Waterdeep, where he was seeking a cure. Ever since he stuck to Miach and him, he can't help but take on a semi-fatherly role for the young tabaxi, as his impulsive and erratic behavior worries him, even if such behavior isn't entirely his own fault. He is unsure what to make of Piper in what his overall goals and direction is. For the being, his company is welcomed. Ronan is curious of how he plans to go about solving his current dilemma.
Korinn
Relationship: Sudden acquaintance
How Korinn came to be with the group is odd, but he's seen more peculiar circumstances. She is the overly anxious pushover type, and wants to make sure a certain someone, or anyone for that matter, isn't going to step all over her. He is of the belief that a dragonborn of her strength and ability should deserve more confidence.
Fearmonger
Relationship: Recent acquaintance
Ronan does not like being on anyones bad side without good reason. Fearmonger is not an exception. The two didn't get off on the right foot, despite Ronan's sincere intentions at help. He would like to see her loosen up a bit in the time they are working together. Being brash and intimidating can only get you so far.
