KITHOOD.

After his father's disappearance his mother unable to cope with the embarrassment, shame, and lack of closure abandoned Leopardkit to be raised by the clan. He was a very large and needy kit, so the responsibility was given to another queen in the nursery. As time passed, the queen grew worried about the young kit's lack of interest in playing and preference peculiar behaviour. However, Cresesntshine, the clan's medicine cat, had never taken such intrest in a little kit before. She had grown quite fond of him due to his frequent visits to the medicine den. She enjoyed telling him of all the herbs she used to heal him during his infancy, but she loved it even more when he asked questions of his own. After much contemplation the queen concluded it would be much better for Leopardkit to be cared for by someone else. With the permission of Comet clan's leader and after much convincing of Cresentshine, Leopardkit was "apprenticed" early and began living alongside her in the medicine den. Being apprenticed so young and given important tasks day to day filled Leopardkit with a sense of pride he couldn't yet explain.
