Both of his parents were well-known historians and archeologists, so he decided to follow in their steps. When he was 15 years old, his family moved to Costa Rica, because his parents got good job offers. His mom worked at a museum while his dad was involved in multiple excavation projects.

When he got into college, he started to study two different careers, librarianship, and archeology. He volunteers as well in the college library making order, cleaning, and assorting books. Here he met 2 architecture students who annoyed him all the time, they were noisy and crazy. It was too tiring for him to ask them to be quiet. These students were Kasim Sawalha and Johanna Brüsse. In the end, both of them decided to use Akshay as an influence at the library and suddenly they were friends.

Kasim quit his studies to chase his dreams in Guanacaste and Akshay and Johanna stayed to complete their studies. Later with time they both got into a romantic relationship and got engaged.

Johanna got pregnant, almost ending her studies. However, when she was giving birth to her child, there were complications and she died. The child survived and Akshay became a single dad. His parents helped him while he ended his career, once he ended, he started working and taking care of his daughter Nabila.

He bought a house for himself and Nabila and opened a small bookstore. As well he has a part-time job at the museum where he helps with document restoration and archeological pieces.

One day while he was eating ice cream with Nabila in a park, he saw Kasim. Kasim told him that he was back in town and wanted to finish his career. Akshay noticed he was depressed since his project ended up wrong and that he was kinda lost. He offered Kasim a place to stay and to take care of him if he helped Akshay by taking care of Nabila, that way he could focus more on his pending and Nabila won't be alone. Kasim agreed and returned to his studies.

Both of them developed a good bond, however, their personalities crash constantly. Since Kasim is noisy and more extroverted than Akshay, they tend to argue a lot. Nevertheless, there is a romantic feeling between both.

There has been always a romantic vibe with them, even since they were at college. Akshay was depressed when Kasim left them, however, he denied it all the time. Johanna knew that and she was jealous, so she decided to comfort Akshay, which ended up making feelings between them.

Having Kasim back in his house gives Akshay a nostalgic feeling, and constantly reminds him about this old crush. While Kasim lives with him and Nabila, things have happened between them, however, neither of them wants to accept that they keep having feelings for each other more than just a friendship.

Being a single dad is never easy, and sometimes it has been frustrating for him. His parents helped him until he finished his studies and could take care of his daughter. He has struggled with getting a balance between his role as a parent vs his job, even more, Nabila is not the healthiest child, due to the complications at the time of birth, Nabila has a very weak immune system, which leads her to get sick constantly.

With help of Kasim, he was able to chase a little more of what he likes and prays that Kasim never ends his studies, this since the deal was to give him a place to stay until he finishes. Kasim now picks up Nabila at school, so Akshay can spend a little more at the museum helping, he feels bad if he doesn't complete his work for the day

Nabila's teachers have asked Akshay what Kasim's role is for Nabila, and he has answered that Kasim is her mother, so he could be allowed to pick her up at school... Kasim and Nabila are not aware of this...
