Margot Kendalwood

Margot is an earnest and kind person, with nerdy interests. She likes D&D, fantasy novels, and creative writing. She spent most of her life as a foster sibling to a few different kids her single father expected her to look out for, an arrangement which abruptly ended when she moved to St. Agatha in high school. This left her suddenly alone, and desperately looking for connection. Despite not asking to be the primary caretaker for her siblings, she was close with the most recent three - 15, 13, and 8 - and misses them terribly with no way to contact them. She has a deep mistrust of authority figures, and is willing to put herself between danger of any size or scale, and her loved ones.

After the move, and now an only child again, she began attending Parkview High, and participated in track and field. She is very athletic, and can also rollerskate, and will do that or bike to get around even in the rain, though she can drive.

She is Earl's former girlfriend. He was the first person she really latched onto when she moved, maybe because he looked as out of place as she felt, and seemed to need help like her friends and family she left behind. She sat with him at lunch and tried to get to know him, but he clammed up and hardly said anything, scared of her. She kept trying, and realized that Earl was being bullied quite seriously, and ended up stepping between him and a physical aggressor to defend him. After that, because she put herself on the line for Earl and chose to associate herself with him at the cost of her safety, he began opening up to her and seeking her out.

When he suddenly abandoned her without warning after she moved to go to college, Margot had a pretty serious mental breakdown that involved a near suicide attempt at the worst of it. She was able to get herself together over the summer, and began attending law school in the fall, where she is training to be a legal representative and advocate for disadvantaged children, the homeless, and drug addicts. At school she met Jordy, who is studying to be a social worker, and spent his entire childhood being volleyed between foster homes. Similarly acquainted with loss, failed by the adults in their lives, and still enamored by humanity, the two hit it off.

Jordy has been earnest and affectionate and goofy with Margot in a way that is unfamiliar to her, and he goes out of his way to anticipate her needs and is undyingly loyal. When she had to go to the hospital following her spleen rupturing, he came over and took care of her, and slept on her couch until she recovered. The moment she did, she asked him out.

Scrapped notes, WIP:

Earl surprisingly did date. Once. It went. Okay actually, but she went college and he decided to panic and ruin everything for no reason. They probably could've made it work or at least stayed friends but the moment she left he just. Blocked her. And then laid in bed for like three weeks rotting.

They left on good terms from her POV and she really really cares about his weird ass so this was... blindsiding for her, but whatever.
