In many ways, Gerharde is a shadow of their former self.
They no longer have a hall to call their own. Their circle is a fraction of what it’d been. Their entire world, once full of promise, has now shrunk down, centered entirely around the tiny, fragile creature they’ve sworn to protect. Their beating heart outside of their chest. The once hardened warrior has given up much for her, and they’re willing to give much more should they feel she’s threatened in any way.
Gerharde is a difficult curio to get to know. It becomes clear quickly that the armor they wear isn’t only on the outside – once trust is earned, however, they’re fiercely loyal. They have a strong sense of honor and justice; in the past, the former hall leader would have spoken out against unfairness no matter who it might infuriate. Nowadays, their reactions are somewhat more measured. They’re passionate, analytical, and unswervingly stubborn when their mind is made up.
"Few stems of spring greenery are willing to poke out of the snow just yet. A scarred paw reaches out to pluck one, rolling the stem to give the leaves a propeller-like spin. It's waved delicately in front of a fat bundle of pink that rests at the warrior's side, where tiny plush paws reach clumsily for it, held just out of reach with a fond smile. It had taken no small sacrifice, but just as they had promised, the little kit would live and grow to see the spring in all its glory."

- They are max height: 7'5" - not including horns.
- In losing their hall, they broke a 137 year chain of matriarchal leadership.
- Their missing horn was lost to Nasir, many years before the fall of Northscar. He still carries it to this day.
- Most of their former hallmates think them dead, and they'd rather it remain that way.

Event Three

Granddaughter
Tara is their granddaughter, and the last remaining member of their circle. When Gerharde pulled her from the burning wreckage of their former home, they swore to her and to her fallen parents that they'd do whatever it takes to keep her safe - even though that meant surrenduring their home, their hall, and their duty towards their people.
While a sickly and fragile babe, Ostara also bright, and adventurous, and full of wide-eyed curiosity. Gerharde keeps track of her with the watchful eye of a kazi, the fierce protectiveness of a mother uragh, and all the proud patience of a loving grandparent. Through her, they see the world through a more hopeful lense.
Traveling Companion
While perhaps the last person Gerharde expected to cross during their travels, they can't say they aren't glad of Isolde's company. The two were once childhood friends; that is - until Isolde abandoned Northscar under mysterious circumstances. Gerharde, like many others, believed her dead due to a crippling injury in her youth, and was shocked and gladdened to find her alive, though wildly changed. She is not the same person Gerharde knew - but neither, in fairness, is Gerharde.
Still, there's comfort in her familiarity, and Isolde is a fierce warrior who pulls her own weight. While she battles her own demons, it's obvious that her affection towards Tara grows every day. ...One day, Gerharde might even come to trust her.
