Michael Crofton - Avatar

Michael Crofton is a renowned linguist and culture scholar of the Na'vi clans. While Grace Augustine is famous for her textbook on the vegetation of Pandora, Michael is better known as a guide to linguistics and the peculiarities of the Navi language/dialect. People often say of him that he speaks much better Na'vi than native English.

He wasn't part of the events of the first film, as he was on an expedition to study water clan culture. However, it was not very successful. He managed to get back to the base before the Omatikaya took over. He remained among the scientists who were allowed to stay, as Michael had once participated with Grace in establishing a language school for the Na'vi. After the humans were expelled from the base, Michael revived the idea of a language school in order to make the natives and the Na'vi understand each other better.

At the time of the events of the second film, Michael and his team set out to explore other clans. To continue his scholarly labors and pass on his invaluable experience to his successor scholar, who would know how to properly gather information. And would be able to continue Michael's labors after his death, since by the time of the second film Michael is many years old, despite his avatar's very young body. During the expedition, he meets a boy from the Tyrangi clan named Te'reyak , who is amazingly interested in meeting people and becoming friends with them.
