Desblair N. Coughs is one of the nearsiblings, half-Comet and half-Coughs. She is really into the paranormal and considers herself an aspiring paranormal investigator (even though she's still pretty young) and wants to pursue it as a career someday. She loves all sorts of haunting things like ghosts and cryptids and other unexplainable phenomena, but at the same time, she's a huge scaredy-cat and gets scared super easily. She considers having a fear of her work is "showing respect for it" but really that's just her justification for being so skittish. Blair also has a poor immune system and is prone to getting sick easily.

Blair is pretty timid in personality, easily getting startled by things. She struggles with situational awareness and oftens gets too invested in her interests and it can make her a little bit out-of-touch with reality sometimes, and struggles to understand things that are happening when she's so deep and lost in her head and passions. She's generally nice for the most part, but she gets defensive when her beliefs are challenged in any way.

She considers Chem to be her research partner - Chem often helps assist her in her paranormal investigations by making special gadgets she can use for them or just helping with research aspects and problem-solving. She is close with her mom because they share interests in horror media, and it kinda sucks sometimes because her father can't really engage with those interests for reasons she doesn't really get. She's also very close with Eve who she sees as a comforting older sister figure who took care of her a lot when she was younger and her immune system was a lot worse.

TRAITS

Believer

Blair is a believer in conspiracies and other things that most people brush off as nonsensical or too unbelievable to make sense. Her passions for paranormal things are something she's super defensive about and quick to argue her points.

Sickly

Blair is sick a lot, often bedridden with colds or fevers or other illnesses. She also has a lot of allergies. She takes a lot of medicines for her frequent illness problems, but they never seem to help. Going out to abandoned decrepit places to ghost hunt doesn't seem to help.

Lover of ferries

Blair really loves ferries, especially cogs, but is nervous about approaching or disturbing them in their natural habitats. She gets along well with most pets though, and they seem to also really like her a lot.

STORY EVENTS

Getting sick

Around the time Eve and Sly had their falling out, Blair was 8, and she started to develop colds and fevers all the time. Their parents tried their best to care for her, taking her to the doctor a lot, and she was diagnosed with immune system problems. During this time, Eve had been feeling very isolated after being abandoned by Sly, and she kind of felt some kind of instinct to become protective and care for Blair as a healing notion for herself, helping her when she was bedridden and doing all she could to make sure Blair got well again. Her illnesses aren't as severe as they were back then, but she still gets sick occasionally and needs the support.

Horror interests

Blair got into spooky things due to her mom's horror media career. They watched (non violent) scary movies a lot when she was younger, and it gave her a huge passion for the genre and even though it freaked her out sometimes she found that developing an interest and appreciation for things that scared her made them easier to deal with. Carrie is the only parent she can really talk to about horror stuff, because all their other parents really don't like it, especially her father, Doom.

Arc 4: Lake Mock Less

In the fourth arc, the Comet family visits Greatmist on a short vacation to Lake Mock Less, one of the Greatmist lakes. Blair is extremely excited about the trip due to the legends of the Mock Less monster, a legendary cryptid that allegedly lives in the Mock Less lake. She appoints Chem as her official research partner to try and find evidence of the monster and prove to her family and even the world that it actually exists.
