"Always remember, my home is always open to you."

Dorothy appears to be a simple housewife, a single mother to three teenage children. On the outside, she is warm, a little aloof and protective of her children, almost to an annoying degree...According to her own children, at least. Under the surface, however, lies something much darker. In truth, she is a proxy to The Slenderman, taking up the name 'Rosie'. She became a proxy four years ago after she was manipulated into killing her abusive husband. She continues to follow him through fear, as a means to make sure that her children will never go down the dark path she is walking on. She does her job and she does it well. No one would ever think that the humble red head next door is even capable of such dastardly deeds. She was raised in a conservative family and had a cold upbringing, and met her husband while the both of them were in high school. The relationship was good at first but it quickly became abusive. After the death of their fourth child, Rosie got a quick glimpse of The Slenderman. At the age of 35, she discovered the morbid case her husband was working on as well as finding out about an affair he had. This was when The Slenderman told her to kill her husband. Reluctant at first, she eventually committed the crime and has been a proxy ever since. She fears The Slenderman and the possibility that he may corrupt her children into living the same horrid double life, and does what she can to make sure that her children never find out. She hates having to lie to her children, but she knows that she must keep them safe at all costs, no matter the risk.

"You have to be prepared to do the unthinkable to protect the important people in your life."

MOTHERLY • PROTECTIVE • MELANCHONY

Dorothy is described as an incredibly kind and selfless person, completely devoted to pleasing and helping others with whatever may be troubling them, even if it's to sit with them and be a listener for their burdens. Incredibly patient, she never pushes anyone into doing things that they aren't ready to do. This comes at a cost, as she tends to bottle up her own emotions and wears a fake smile to hide her own pain and suffering. She can be also described by her children as somewhat overbearing and incredibly protective. Once her emotional bottle cracks or someone causes harm to her children, she is shown to have an uncontrollable temper and won't hesitate to resort to extreme violence once her limits have been pushed. She rarely opens up about herself, never wishing to place her burdens on her friend's family and even fellow proxies. Very, very few people have managed to climb over the wall she has built around herself and got to truly know her for who she is: A broken woman who just want's someone to listen to her, even if it's for a minute.

You would never honestly think that she was a proxy to The Slenderman due to her nurturing actions and personality. When out on her missions, she is shown to be incredibly co-operative, happily going along with her partners plan's and is shown to be incredibly efficient at her job. She has learned to turn off her emotions when on a job as a means to distance herself from her terrible actions, but it does not mean she doesn't feel immense guilt for taking away innocent human lives. When a mission does fail, she doesn't seem too bothered by it, on the inside at least, even if it means she will be punished severely because she didn't have to hurt someone. Proxies note her for dealing with her victims quickly as to not cause them unnessesary pain. However, if it comes to those who turn out to be cruel to their families, she takes time torturing them, making them feel what their victim's feel in the process. She is often able to show that she is actually pretty intelligent, able to note quick in's and outs of a location, as well as, should there ever be a need, a knowledge of chemicals from seemingly normal household items and how to create a nasty or, in some cases, a deadly combination, as well as how to efficently get rid of a body and cover hers and her partner's tracks.

YOUTH AND MARRIAGE

Dorothy Buchanan was born in Coventry to an exceptionally wealthy family. Her father was a property developer from the United States and her mother was a housewife, something that she would echo in the future. Due to her father being a US citizen, she received dual British-American citizenship as soon as she was born. She spent some of her younger childhood years within England before her parents made the big move to Manhattan, New York when she was seven years old. Her childhood wasn’t a happy one. While she wasn’t physically abused, her home life proved to be emotionally neglectful and filled with old world views, she was consistently unappreciated and invalidated by the family who was supposed to love her, her only comfort being in the form of watching old Hollywood movies such as Father of The Bride, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Casablanca. These helped develop her fascination with acting and her dreams of becoming an actress. To be noticed and loved by many. However, these ambitions were quickly stamped on. Her family thought that it would be ridiculous. After all, her place in the future should be at home.

As a teenager in high school, she was known to be somewhat popular with her peers, but she never really considered those around her to be her friends. They knew she was rich and she was pretty and they only liked the surface level things. In her sophomore year, she got to know a guy named Billy Wilder. It was a bit of a stereotypical romance. She was a pretty girl, he was captain of the football team. Dorothy didn’t understand what captivated him to get him to talk to her, but he was very persistent in his advances to ask her out and she would reject it every time. But he successfully wore her down enough that she had to say yes the next time he asked her out on a date. Then they went on another, and another, and they officially became an item. He was the one who gave her the nickname ‘Rosie’, because her cheeks blushed as the same colour as a rose. They managed to stay together after they graduated from high school, moving in together in a nice home near the woodlands and Billy eventually proposed. It was a public affair, since he proposed at a restaurant, and they got married when Dorothy was twenty one.

The couple had their first child, Theodore just a year later, then their second son, Chester a year after that, and then their first daughter, Nancy when Dorothy was twenty five. The marriage between Dorothy and Billy seemed so perfect on the surface. Billy was working as a big shot attorney and Dorothy tended to the home and looked after the children. She was dead set on not repeating her parents' mistakes. She was determined to be the best mother to them. Always playing games with them, attending their games, and being the shoulder they need to cry on.

THE TROUBLES

Dorothy couldn’t exactly pinpoint when the cracks in her marriage became obvious, but it was when her husband was getting a little too into his work as an attorney. The cocky, bright eyed football player was no longer there. The constant compliments and love bombing seemed to cease. It started out with small jabs on her appearance, how she seemed to always look so terrible. Then it escalated into shouting at her for minor inconveniences, and to the point where he began having an affair behind her back. Even with a fourth child on the way, the cruelty didn’t stop. This anger wasn’t solely on her, but her children were also at the fourth front of the verbal attacks, something Dorothy wouldn’t allow and always stepped in to defend her children. This wasn’t something that Billy took too kindly to. Not at all.

Dorothy welcomed the couple’s fourth baby, Clark, alone in the hospital. Billy was god knows where… With god knows who. Clark was a happy, healthy baby boy and the apple of Dorothy’s eye. So her whole world came crashing down when Clark died suddenly a week later. Her husband was the first person to find him like that as he loomed over the cradle, and reacted as if this was an inconvenience to him, not even bothering to comfort his grieving wife, telling her to ‘deal with it’. As she tried to compose herself, she could have sworn she saw… Something. Out in the window. But it must have been nothing. It was normal to see things when in such a horrendous state.

Things weren’t the same after that. She never got to properly mourn over the loss of her infant child. Having to bottle up those emotions so she could comfort the rest of her surviving children. But what she saw that night continued to linger in her mind for years to come.

THE TRAGEDY

It was four years ago. It was a very foggy afternoon. Billy was out again, the children were spending the day with their grandparents, and Dorothy was cleaning around in his home office. It was often dusty, with books he hadn't picked up for many years, a radio he would blast quite loudly on his desk, and various papers scattered about. She never really asked him about his work.. Then again, he never really talked to her. Never looked at her the way he used to. The only comfort she had was their wedding photo framed on his desk, picking it up, smiling softly and placing it down, accidently knocking over a file. Oh dear! That wouldn’t do. She picked it up and… Got curious. He never really discussed his work. She often assumed it was for small things. Silly things…

Curiosity guided her as she looked through the case file and she was horrified by what she saw. Photos of crime scenes, blood, strange symbols and a photo of… His client. They bore a plain mask and dirty, blood stained, unkempt clothes. Was her husband actually willing to defend— No. No this had to be a mistake. She began looking more into his files, frantically reading every single one. Similar crime scenes, similar symbols, similar people. More and more her head began to throb. She didn’t realize that the radio in her husband's office was emitting a screech.Dorothy was in a frenzy looking through everything, eventually opening a drawer on her husband's desk and finding… Letters. Letters not in her writing, and a piece of lingerie. Not her size.

She fell to her knees, beginning to hyperventilate, yanking at her hair as the shrieking felt like it had gotten louder. Her mind was racing, trying to process everything.

This was all too much.

This was all too much...

“I suspected that you would find this all to be quite shocking to you, Dorothy.”

She almost felt her heart leap out as she said that, believing it at first to be her husband. But as she looked around, it was still just her on her own.

“You will not be able to do much lying around. Get up.”

As the woman got up, she grabbed one of the books, looking around for whoever was talking to her.

“W-Who’s there… Billy, if this is some kind of horrible joke...”

“This isn’t a joke. It is actually incredibly serious… You see, I have been watching you… We have met before. At the time of your son’s death.”

It was the figure in the woods. The thing she saw all those years ago.

“Y-You… You were that thing..!! I saw you!! Outside the window! You did something to my baby, didn’t you..?! DIDN’T YOU?!”

There was a silence

“ANSWER ME!!!!”

That was probably the only time she actually yelled at someone, a small spark of a fire. But that fire instantly vanished when she felt the presence of someone, or something towering over her. A faceless man in what seemed to be a tailored suit, terrible dark tentacles sprouting from his back. Even if she wanted to throw that book she still had… She couldn’t. She was paralysed with fear.

“I’m sure you have many questions. And these questions I will answer. But first, you will do something for me in exchange.” One of his tentacles picked up one of the scattered files and presented it to Dorothy.

“Your husband has tried and failed continuously to keep my servants from being locked away. Even if he is not one of my own, he has proved to be quite useless. I want you to kill him.” The last part of what this thing said to her echoed in her head. He was asking her to murder her own husband.

“You will kill him.”

“…N-No..” An act of defiance. Her first act of defiance and it was against this monster. The exchange he wanted was a human life. Her husband was a terrible person, but he was still a person, a person who could… Change.

“What makes you believe you have a say in the matter? You will kill him… Or do you want him to hurt the rest of your children as he has done with you?”

“…”

“I have seen everything that your husband has done behind your back. Where else do you believe those bruises on your children’s bodies come from? From sheer clumsiness? Have you not properly observed their strange behaviours towards him?”

“Stop…”

He had to be lying.

“Do you not remember when you came home and you saw your husband about to raise his hand at Chester? Or how about the times he would scream at your daughter?”

“Stop!!”

There was no way.

“Or how about when your infant son, born a healthy child without complications, suddenly passed. Do you not remember what he said to you? Do you not remember how he reacted when he found him?”

“STOP!!!!! STOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOPITSTOPITSTOP!!!!”

Of course she remembered. She remembered she was told to deal with it. He was the first person to find her baby in that state.

Oh god.

Oh god.

Billy killed their baby.

“You will be keeping your children safe if you manage this. Now go. He will be home soon.”

Like that, the figure left the building, but Dorothy had a feeling that he was watching her, wherever he was. She made a call to her parents, asking them if they could let the children spend the night there. Luckily they agreed. The short phone call ended when she heard Billy pull up on the driveway. Dorothy greeted him and he pushed her away as usual, this sadly was the new normal and she left to prepare dinner in the kitchen. He was about to retreat into his office and he noticed the mess. The man stormed in, demanding answers. Asking her why the fuck there were papers scattered about! Asking her who the hell did she think she was to go through his stuff!

Dorothy asked who the hell did he think he was to go behind her back and be unfaithful. Began to grill him on the mysterious bruises on her children. On the letters that he received from another woman and the lingerie she found in his drawer. These accusations of infidelity and the abuse of their children infuriated Billy.

Him striking her across the face was all the confirmation she needed. That figure was right.

Dorothy didn’t hesitate.

She grabbed the meat cleaver and struck back. The blade digging right into Billy’s neck. She kept cutting him up with furious hits. She kept hitting him again, and again, and again, and again.

She didn’t have a choice. He was going to hurt the children.

The kitchen was coated in his blood, Dorothy beginning to process what she had just done before the figure from the woods appeared again.

He wasn’t done with her yet. He still had use for her.

Billy Wilder

Husband (DECEASED)

Her husband. They met each other when they were in high school and remained together until Billy's death. The relationship was incredibly toxic and abusive. Rosie still questions whenever this was normal and if she truly deserved what happened to her, and feels deep regret for killing him.

64cf8834dba9324f68918824d4907017.jpg
THEODORE WILDER

SON (ALIVE)

Her oldest son. While he finds her incredibly overbearing and annoying, it's just a front to hide how he truly feels about her. In truth, he deeply appreciates everything she has done and Rosie can see through his cold exterior. She cherishes her son dearly and does try to take part in his interests, even if she doesn't understand.

c078273869860589560e159da1bbf7f5.jpg
CHESTER WILDER

SON (ALIVE)

Rosie's middle child. Chester's deafness as a result of severe scarlett fever was what made Rosie want to learn sign language so she can better communicate with her son. She still feel's immense guilt for not taking him to the hospital sooner, as Billy said that it was just the flu and 'it would pass'. Chester doesn't feel any resentment and enjoys spending time with his mother, especially when they're looking for bugs.

a166c219825c22b8407ac58ec0ec0d80.jpg
NANCY WILDER

DAUGHTER (ALIVE)

Rosie's only daughter. As with all mother's with their youngest children, she dotes on her heavily, but luckily, Nancy has not grown up to be spoilt or bratty. Rosie was glad that she ended up having a girl, and she hopes that Nancy gets to be a fool, as it's the best thing a girl in this world can be. A beautiful little fool.

6317775b458979686cc35fdf8eaeb5c0.jpg
THE SLENDERMAN

BOSS (ALIVE)

Her boss. She feels as if she should thank him for freeing her from years of abuse, but still feels as if things could of gone down differently. She knows that she owes him big time, but she's only doing her job so that her children never follow under his influence.

CAT HUNTER

FELLOW PROXY (ALIVE)

Rosie has much respect for Cat Hunter and emphasises with his situation. He also acts as a babysitter for her children and knows it must be super awkward to ask for such a thing. She enjoys his presense and thinks that his cat, Loki, is an adorable thing. She always reminds Cat that should he ever need to, her home will always welcome him.

COLOR

FELLOW PROXY (ALIVE)

Rosie enjoys his antics and presense as he seems to always be able to make her laugh, no matter what mood she's in. She's a little surprised that Color hasn't considered taking up painting, considering his name.

36fba0e1c0b89ba60b3a496e0850dd0b.jpg
DOG BITE

FELLOW PROXY (ALIVE)

His aura and off putting nature does unnerve her, but she understands that it's not intentional and people cannot always change the energy they give off. Her oldest son, Theodore, has taken a liking to Dog Bite, mostly because of the self defense he gets to learn.

80b9875b9aa93db7d3fca0cdb59aba58.jpg
EL SALVADOR

FELLOW PROXY (ALIVE)

Feels immense symphany for him, despite his abhorrent actions and how he treats other proxies. She views the relationship he has to The Slenderman as what it is: Toxic. Just like how her marriage was with Billy. But she would never bring that up. Despite how he treats her and knowing full well that he dislikes her, she still treats him with unconditional kindness, which confuses Salvador greatly, as he always believes she wants something from him.

1e86648dfc40d67762f2c801a53c7dfc.jpg
HUNTER

FELLOW PROXY & LOVER (ALIVE)

Rosie is incredibly surprised that she and Hunter became close friends, considering the two are unalike in almost every way possible. But the two have a deep mutual respect with one another and one of the very few people that Rosie trusts to the highest degree. Despite the hellish circumstances they are in, they confessed their romantic love for one another and begun a relationship. Due to the trauma Rosie endured from Billy, she still has her fears, but they seemed to lessen as Hunter has treated her with the respect and love that she never got to have. She affectionally refers to him as her "rootin' tootin' cowboy"!
