Kite

Kite is a recently ousted guard from a major trade city.
* Here's the breakdown for his (former) title as a guardsman.
Ranked: Title for a guardsman who is based at the palace, within a unit second only to the royal guard.
First: Fairly common title. Just above any basic enlisted guardsman, but not really in the command staff.
Guard: Generic title given to any guards who have completed the inital training stage.

Character notes:

Familiar with unarmed, armed, and close-quarters combat. Familiar with crowd control.
Dedicated to his training, and despite being kicked out, he still practices every day.
He was briefly in charge of training new guards and made a patient but firm teacher.
The sort of person who gives all his effort, and expects you to do the same.

No known relatives. All his friends were coworkers.
He isn't the sort of person to buy things he doesn't need.
Almost all of his belongings were issued by the guards (and technically city property).
Prefers to go barefoot, except over very hot ground or when in the guards' uniform.

He's dealt with his losses by ignoring it and focusing on the present moment.
His skills are centered around fighting-type skills, so he's offering those skills to any buyer.
Currently living on whatever he can earn in a day and the kindness of strangers.
He tends to drown his emotions in cheap alcohol, given money and somewhere to sleep it off.

Design notes:

The sides/back of his head are shaved. If his hair gets too long, he french braids it.
Ties his hair with ribbon, string, or leather. (Hair bands don't exist in his setting.)

Carries his sword by hand-- there is no belt or scabbard. (See pictures for a small diagram.)
In a casual carry, he holds it loosely by his hip with the blade balanced against the shoulder.
In uniform, all guardsmen carry it higher, with the hilt guard 'hooked' over the shoulder.

Wardrobe notes:

Kite used to wear the official guardsmens' uniform.

He really prefers the uniform over anything else, and wore it almost daily.
