Background.

Father Avery's association with the church reached through childhood, and made a large impact on his life and who he wanted to become in his adulthood. His life's passion was to help those in need, because he saw so much of that spread throughout Protelus and his home. He still considers his dedication to the church to be his best decision in life.

Much of his associations outside of the church, or before he came to Protelus, are unfamiliar with the rest of the party. However, he is not necessarily popular, but known in his community as a guiding figure and do-gooder. He actively participates in fundraisers and charities for those in need, and can be found sometimes working on the street to tend to the homeless and sickly. A true Shepherd of the Lord.

Father Avery is a lanky, scrawny, beanpole of a man with a physicality akin to Slenderman. He jests that he just comes from a tall family. He is a man of simple pleasures, preferring neutral tones and peasant fabrics rather than fancy clothing. He is typically seen in his garments for church, but outside of that, tends not to wear the full robes. More often just the collared garb for casual outings.

Despite not being quite old, he appears rather ragged and run down, always slightly frazzled or disheveled. He blames it on trouble sleeping, and the city sapping at his energy. Almost a sickly nature to him, but not to an extreme amount. Gaunt, but with spice. Sickly Victorian child aesthetic.

Inspired by Catholicism, fallen angels, leeches, biblically accurate angels, wendigos, exorcisms.

Powers.

Miracle Maker

Father Avery can declare publicly or privately a miracle he would like to perform. Chance of success depends on complexity. He realizes this may create backlash in his community, and has refrained from using his miracles for anything major, preferring small, unnoticable blessings.

Commune with God

Damian receives whisperings from God and his angels, guiding him on what to do in certain situations. He takes the advice, of course, but sometimes wonders if he is really blessed by the heavenly Father, or if something else has unified him.

The Meter

In order to sustain his abilities, Avery must have a meter filled to a certain point. Once it lowers past the threshold, he begins having terrible visions and flashes from his God. He still isn't sure what satisfies the itch, but is finding ways around it.

Damian is a genuine, caring, upstanding figure in his community. He is personable, albeit a bit awkward in most social situations. When it comes to working with others, he is always pleased to lend a helping hand and a kind word when able. The past few years have made him more skiddish and paranoid due to the increasing rates of crime and foul behavior in Protelus. He reserves his negative thoughts for discussion with his God.

Stephan (Ex-Mentee, Fear)

A previous kinship through shared religious practice, Damian served as a mentor figure in Stephan's life. The two worked closely with one another through the church, but then had a falling out due to Stephan's incredulous beliefs in false events. Damian regrets the loss of a friend, but prefers to stay away from Stephan's new, unseedy line of work.

Rhys (A One-Time Job, Fear)

It was supposed to be easy. It was supposed to be in and out, no trouble, just trying to help the child, get the child out of there. But no. Now he has to deal with the consequences of his actions. Seeing this man again causes Damian a panic that he forgot he could experience. Not the man, but the monster.

Bernard (The Child, Regret)

It brings him some sense of relief that some aspect of the mission went well. The child was safe. Though now, no longer a child. In some ways, Bernard gives him comfort that something good came out of the hell they went through. But in others, he wonders if it is regret he feels of the outcome of Bernard's life of sin. Could he have done more to lead him down a better path, to save him from corruption?
