02 — Personality
Scruffy is never seen without a smile, despite his profession. He's social and friendly, but still quite independent although he'd a lot more reserved and passive around Layton.
He's especially clingy to his adoptive father and incredibly eager to please. Scruffy is very curious, but occasionally his inquisitive nature gets him in trouble with his superiors, but for the most part he accepts what he's told.
While naïve, he's still incredibly smart and hates being treated like less because of his bubbly nature.

03 — Background
Part I
Scruffy was bred to be a show dog, coming down from a long line of highly decorated canines. Unfortunately, he was born with a birthmark on his muzzle, ending his career before it started.
Because of his ruined features, he was destined to die, along with his other rejected siblings. He, and his brothers and sisters were put in a burlap sack and thrown into a river.
Part II
By the time the sack washed back onto the river bank, all his siblings had died, and he was half drowned leaving him with a few funny behaviors. Fortunately, the river spat him out near TAYMERZ.INC, and around that time Layton was out for a walk. Seeing potential in the shiba inu, he took him in and began training him.
Part III
Years have passed, and Scruffy was molded into a world class neurosurgeon with almost no knowledge of the outside world. He still gets curious sometimes, but he's accepted his place at TAYMERZ.INC.
04 — Trivia

Scruffy got his name because when he was discovered his disheveled appearance inspired Layton.

He suffered mild brain damage from being drowned, and because of this has a few odd habits.

Being a Shiba Inu he has an incredibly high prey drive, and has been known to chase after his smaller co-workers.

He's normally incredibly clean and has a sprawling collection of self-care products.
05 — Relationships
Adoptive Father
Scruffy loves his father, after all he owes his life to the man! He's the only one he's aiming to please, and will occasionally compete with his adopted siblings for his attention. He still occasionally gets in trouble with Layton but Scruffy has begun to learn the less questions he asks, the happier he is.
