Winterkit was born to a litter of four; all siblings named after seasons of the year. Sortly after the birth, their mother grew vibidly distached from the kits. She was neglectful and disinterested from them. She wasn't present to stop the horned owl that swooped down into the clearing, lifting Winterkit from the ground. Its talons however did not grip correctly, leaving deep gashes along his back. Her lack of care for the situation confirmed his hatred and sadness for their relationship.

Once their apprenticeship ended, Smallsky tried to leave. Smallsky and Springpaw got into an arugement where Smallsky lashed out emotionally and clawed off the apprentices ear. She left and none of the siblings saw eachother again,
