One of the many bastard children of the late King Vyryn. A tiefling witch who possesses occult magic of the fate variety. They put a lot of stock into things like destiny, believing everything happens for a reason, and is rarely seen without their Harrow card deck.

Bio

  • Aruyi is a rather trusting individual who tends to try and see the best in people. They believe in fate and that things will just work themselves out if they're meant to be. They're nice, but naive, most likely because they spent the majority of their life living and working in the castle.
  • Aruyi is specifically a beastbrood tiefling, with tiger-like qualities to their appearance. They have light brown freckled skin, bright orange hair and eyes, and a petite stature. They also have horns and a tiger's tail. They typically dress in light loose clothing that covers most of their skin, perfect for a desert environment.

  • Harrow Cards. Specifically, their fine deck of Harrow cards! They never go without them.
  • Gold Jewelry. They have multiple ear piercings, facial piercings, and typically wear rings and necklaces as well.
  • Strong Individuals. As they're weak themself, they enjoy being in the company of those with strength..
  • Their Family. The most important people in the world to them! Especially their twin, Aruna.

Dislikes

  • Being Alone. After the death of their mother and being separated from Aruna for years, loneliness scares them.
  • The Cold. The desert gets quite cold when it's a totally dark night, and they hate it.
  • The Dark. With the amount of suns the planet has, dark nights are rare- but not completely absent.
  • Magic Water. Their mother died because of magic water, so they can't bring themself to trust it whatsoever.

  • Is convinced their magic has something to do with their tiefling Rakasha lineage, but has no proof for or against this notion.
  • They got their magic about a year after being separated from Aruna and became the castle's fortune teller that year.
  • They rarely get the chance to leave the castle or make friends, and are very excited when given the opportunity.
  • They have no idea Aruna is a changeling who replaced their real twin, but they also wouldn't care if they found out, since Aruna is the closest family they have right now.

Story

I. Past

Aruyi and their twin were raised almost entirely by their courtesan mother, due to being illegitimate children of King Vyryn. The king ended up passing when the twins were five years old, with Kyros taking the crown soon after. A couple years later, the twins' mother would die, leading to Kyros separating the two.

Aruyi, now age 12, was originally raised to be a lady-in-waiting. However, at the age of 13, they were granted magical powers by a mysterious patron.

The Patron

Despite being largely clueless about said patron, Aruyi had their theories, most of which involved their tiefling heritage, seeing as their parents were both regular humans. They had vague memories of the life of a Rakasha, which had to be connected... they just weren't sure how, exactly- was it the Rakasha they saw in those memories that granted them these powers? Or a friend of theirs, who recognized Aruyi as familiar? It was quite vexing!

It became easier for them to see how everyday things connected as they grew up, though. Everything happened for a reason and destiny was an immutable fact. Aruyi got their hands on a harrow deck and became the castle court's fortune teller.
