Jizo has had many a strange affinity throughout his life. As a wee pup, those who knew him then would know how he would challenge everyone he came across to a battle. Later on, when he mellowed out his childhood bloodthirst, the Zorua would take an interest to exploration guilds. Training dawn to dusk, Jizo then joined one as a Lycanroc, and had a good first week before being uncremoniously kicked out for his leftover confrontational tendencies. He repeated this cycle for a good while before joining a bandit group instead, which favoured him more.

Team Bloodhound made up a good chunk of his life, clearly meaning a lot to the Lycanroc as he still keeps the gilded glasses (now ill-fitting his eyesight) gifted to him by his ex-partner, Kanta. The group broke apart after, one day fighting over a particularly hefty sum of gold, their spat turned for the worse as they were caught by the treasure's furious owner. The ensuing battle felled their leader, and the rest scattered afterwards, salvaging what they could from the stolen riches.

Without his ex-partner, Jizo gave up entirely on pursuing thrills, falling into a sluggish yet nervous slump, until eventually in an act of petty theft, the Lycanroc found his new obsession with mineralogy. It was more of a coping mechanism than anything, and Jizo grew his hoarde slowly but surely, mostly by means of theft. Then meeting Razor, having someone else to keep him company, rejuvenated him to start an exploration team of his own. One to study the secrets of the world, hidden below its soil.

And then they found not many would pay them as they would a team exploring more enticing phenomena, say, floating islands or sky-reaching spires.

So Nightshade crystallised into the 'detective agency' that could solve all your problems for cheap, if not for the fact all its yield is entirely made-up hogwash (excluding POIZON's genuine efforts, though their arrival came much later). Throughout this period, Jizo's confusion over his true wants and desires wore down the Zoroark and let Razor replace him as leader. Nightshade nearly took a quite violent turn before joining Dérive, and at last, Jizo has now gotten the chance to churn the whirlwind he let brew for a while.
