Introduction
In the distant future, being entirely organic is a privilege few humans have. Among that group, dancers are allowed to keep their original body; with the theory that only flesh and bone could convey the art aesthetically. Cleo and Pierre are dancers in the televised dance competition, where those who lose meet a fate a worse than death.
Cleo is utterly untalented. In fact, I’m surprised no one else has noticed just how horrendously she sticks out from the group. But a part of me that can’t help but want to make sure she’s okay.
What an asshole. A big fat asshole. Just like his big sister. Like, I’m thankful you’re helping me out, but I’d also like it if he didn’t pretend to know me the MOMENT someone else came by.

Relationship story
First meeting
Pierre finds Cleo- how could he not? She sticks out like a sore thumb; a whirlwind of messy footwork and shifty eyes that floated about the sea of perfect swans. It was strange that nobody else noticed her utter incompetence, but she seemed content with taking all that scrutiny and performing it towards herself.
From between two rows of teams 1 and 4, he can’t imagine that he’s concealed too well. When she catches his stare, she flinches like a wild hare being pulled by the ears. To Cleo’s credit, Pierre is aware of his unwavering glare, two cold eyes often ducked by others like the plague. Cleo briefly meets his eyes, makes a horrified face, and then spins around pretending to check in with her ensemble.
God, even the way she tried to act natural was blundering.
Pierre:
How have I never seen you here before?
Cleo:
How have I... Never seen YOU before?
Pierre:
Everyone has seen me before.
Cleo:
God damn it, you're right.
Pierre's a bad teacher
Perhaps Pierre was just bored, but he took up teaching Cleo. Especially at night where no one would see him hanging around someone as unremarkable as her. He felt proud of himself- or was he disappointed in everyone else? That he was the only one who noticed the little mistakes she made on stage. At least now, he could use his sister’s harsh teachings on someone else.
Cleo realises that just because someone is a good dancer, doesn't mean they are a good teacher. In fact, it couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s cold, aloof, and has no idea how to translate his movements into digestible instructions. Whenever another dancer walks by them in the hallways, he pushes himself away from her so they aren’t seen together. Tough.
Pierre:
Échappé! I'm telling you do Échappé! Can you not understand english?
Cleo:
WHAT THE HELL IS AN ECHAPPE? THAT'S NOT ENGLISH!
Memories
For what it’s worth, Cleo doesn’t seem satisfied with the way things are. Pierre is indifferent to it because it’s all he knows. After some time together, she finally confides in him and talks about the memories. Unintentionally, he’s become roped into her world of chaos, and the only way out is- well, out. Out the competition, out the city.
Trivia
- Pierre unintentionally searches for Cleo in any space he's in.
- They have a serious love-hate reltionship. Sans the love. (we're getting there)
- Pierre is like a black cat; quietly irritating with unexpressive face.
- Cleo becomes more animated around him, to compensate for his stony expressions. Also because she is very exasperated.
Mutual relations
[sister]
[old rival]
Camille is the country's top dancer. She is better than Pierre, smarter than him, and stronger too. Her cold personality rubs off on him, but at least she's a good teacher.
A long time ago, Cleo used to be Camille's rival. They went toe to toe, but neither have any recollection of it. Now, the feeling of tension is replaced by utter disregard; but occasionally Camille can't help but find her familiar.
