Trivia
- Considered a bright child when he was younger, but struggles academically. Does best with hands-on work and group assignments. Creative writing is his favorite subject; he started keeping a diary from seven onwards, a habit which has continued till the present day. Over time, the journals have gradually progressed in scale from cheap lined notepads to elaborate leather-bound creations bedazzled with stickers, sketches and pressed flowers. More than one teacher has bemoaned that he would easily get As if he spent half the time on his schoolwork that he does on his diaries.
- A terrible flirt, but never seems to do it deliberately β gets flustered when someone points it out.
- Enjoys watching anime in his free time, though he rarely watches every episode of a series due to his low attention span. His favorite genres are romance, slice-of-life, and magical girls/boys. He cried for a solid hour after finishing Your Name.
- Has a knack for languages, and can converse fluently in German and Japanese (having pestered several transfer students to practice with him) besides his native Dutch. As a compulsory school subject, he's also learning English, and while he can understand it well enough his vocabulary is rather limited due to lack of practice. It doesn't help that he finds the assigned texts for it terrifically boring.
- Can get a crush in a stiff breeze, but easily mistakes his infatuations for friendship; has unknowingly passed over many potential romances this way. Still hasn't had his first kiss yet, but he's in no real hurry β after all, he still has an unbroken ideal of a first (forever) love, whoever they might be. His candidness and cavalier attitude has intimidated and/or confused many a classmate into thinking that he's really just trying to let them down easily, and it doesn't help that a certain voice seems to warn people off whenever their intentions stray towards the impure...
