Maude Hecate

Maude is a traveling doctor raised in the Psychic Citadel, a fortress city far to the north that experiments on "Subjects" for the purpose of unlocking psychic powers. Maude was born with eyes that could not see, and as part of an experiment was given "Eyes from somewhere else". Believing that this gift meant that doctors in the citadel were heroes, Maude sought to become a doctor themself. After a miserable childhood being subjected to torment from all sides, Maude discovered the true horrors of the citadel during their final exam, where they saw for themself the torture inflicted in the name of "science".

Escaping their hometown and traveling on their own, they were taken in by Roderick, an undertaker and priest for a small churchouse. Maude succeeded Roderick, thinking the role better suited them due to their inability to save the subjects of the Citadel. Roderick passed away, hoping that Maude would find a better purpose in life. After some time traveling alone, Maude felt isolated from humanity, and fell into a rut. They managed to escape the rut after meeting Lacora, an exorcist who had lost her memory. Traveling together, the two fell in love, and after a handful of setbacks due to their pasts catching up to them, they eventually admitted their feelings to one another, and decided to be together forever. Since then, they've gotten married multiple times, and are looking for a place to settle down and raise a family. Still, they fight against their pasts, but are able to pull through it together.
