Linnea Whitehorse

Linnea Jessica Whitehorse is a grunt pilot who has just joined the Orange Lifebirds. They are a life flight organization that has contracts with hospitals across Florida and Georgia. She flies one of the company’s helicopters to rescue injured or ill people. She is also often sent on missions to find and rescue people lost in the wilderness. Her focus is on flying the aircraft and she rarely gets involved in the medical work.

Linnea has mid to long hair that ranges from cappuccino in the roots to honey brown at the very tips; and brown eyes. She wears a tight, shiny, vibrant azure and tropical orange silicone flight suit with Lifebirds insignia. Her flight suit was designed for high visibility and the material is very smooth to the point that objects and liquids slide off of it. Linnea does her nails, and sometimes wears eyeshadow, to match her uniform and helicopter.

When Linnea was 16, she began summer ground school classes at a dirty, graffiti-filled flight academy in Louisiana. She had heard about people being financially burdened for life by their student loans, so she was doing her very best to avoid or at least minimize having to use them. Flight training is very expensive and this academy was the only one Linnea’s parents could afford to send her to.

Once Linnea completed her ground school, she was able to get a good scholarship. She moved several states north to a more prestigious flight school for her actual training and necessary hours of flight experience. While there, she made good friends with another trainee, Olivia. She had saved a passenger airliner as a young teen and was now training to be an airline pilot. Livi stood by Linnea’s side as she was made fun of a few times because of her short height.

After Linnea earned her pilot’s license on New Years’ Eve 2020, she got a job as a tour helicopter pilot in Miami. She worked this job until late in 2022. Linnea then completed a first aid class and was accepted into the Orange Lifebirds. She is tasked with planning flights and flying a helicopter that costs her employer over $1,000 an hour to operate, in order to rescue total strangers and fly them to the hospital. The Orange Lifebirds are issued Toughbook laptops. Linnea is responsible for taking care of hers and not putting any of her own personal data or programs on it, or putting any stickers on the case.

Although Linnea works in the health field and is health conscious for her yearly FAA physicals, she is addicted to Cinnamon Toast Crunch. She carries some snack bags of it in the cockpit of her helicopter. If she sits down with a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, she can potentially eat the whole box without realizing it until she reaches in and finds no more pieces.

Linnea’s personal vehicle is her white Shelby GT350 with Florida Seminole license plate “LINEA”. Her personal computer is a Mac Studio (which costs $2,000 or more new from Apple) with a big aftermarket monitor. Unlike her work laptop, her own computer enclosure and monitor are covered in stickers. Linnea plays Microsoft Flight Simulator on her setup to improve and maintain her skills. Other than that, her favorite games are Crysis, Fortnite, and Skyrim. But she cheaped out on her phone, which is an old cracked gray Samsung. Linnea is Native American, a member of the Seminole Nation of Florida.

Linnea lives with her father and Colin, her little brother. Her mother moved to upstate New York. Colin is much lazier and more immature than Linnea. In fact, he was suspended from school for a full year for drinking Busch beer at lunchtime.
