NOTE
Viola is deeply involved with a personal Hell redemption au I came up with for funsies. It's very similar to HFIL in concept, if that helps visualizing what I'm going for here. Said au is also connected to Pluto, another oc of mine I'll talk about later. Also, I'm not too well versed in DBZ lore, so his backstory might be very inaccurate because of that. Oh and Super Buu is usually in Hell for this one instead of Kid Buu ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I like him a lot too that's my excuse.

Not much is known about Viola's past, since he doesn't talk much about himself. It's assumed he was not a good person when alive, given he was meant for Hell when he arrived in the Other World.
Viola is dangerously smart, and is known to sweet talk his way out of unsavory situations. This ability has landed him a job as one of King Yemma's aides and, more recently, the responsibility to look over every major league villain's rehabilitation while in Hell.
He only sees the former as an opportunity to maybe land himself a spot in heaven, if he does the job well enough – but Viola also has the innate desire to fix people, whether by helpful means or not. He fully believes he's capable of making Frieza into a good person, eventually.
Viola has found people he genuinely likes in this job, though. Most notably Cell and Super Buu.
The former seems to enjoy butting heads with the majin more often than not, but also has a soft spot for him that's not gone unnoticed by either of them. The latter is one of the few people Viola is actually kind and patient with – most likely because they are of the same species, and understand each other much better because of it.
Truth be told, Viola's story can only end in two ways: either he will succeed at his task and be resurrected by the Dragon Balls among his peers, or he will spiral deeper into apathy towards anyone he doesn't care for, ultimately failing to help anyone. He would still keep the meaningful connections he'd formed in Hell in either ending, though.
