Name to Name

Persephone is the Greek goddess of spring, life, grain, nature and vegetation. She's a prominent deity within the Greek Pantheon. Persephone is also regarded as "Queen of the Netherworld" (冥界の女王, Meikai no Joō) alongside her husband Hades who is the "King of the Netherworld".

Appearance

Persephone possesses soft long wavy pale chestnut hair which reaches her waist, decorated with a civic wreath hair piece on the left front side of her hair. The longher parts of her front hair and fringe are twisted around the back of her head and held in place by a number of flowers. Although not many, some of the petals have fallen and is stuck to the bottom part of her hairdo. She's described as a beautiful and alluring women with a figure of a curvy body and an average woman's height, noted to range from 5'3 - 5'9. Though despite this, she is known to look petite beside Hades. She has warm fair rosy skin accompanied by golden yellow eyes along with her long eyelashes and rosy eyeshadow to compliment her appearance. Her lips are in a glossy pink shade which brings out that feature of hers in her appearance. Same goes for her nails which contrasts her husband's black painted ones.

She presents herself in an elegant manner with her attire being shown to be quite formal to match her husband's style, compared to the traditional Greek clothing that is seen to be worn by Aphrodite. Her outfit includes an open chested white gown which fades upwards at the waist till the chest area into black in the form of flower petal patterns, with white frills at the hems of the sleeves and black frills addorned by golden embroidery at the opening of the thigh slit on the right side of the dress, black heels and a red rose with layered cloth in place of the collar area with two golden chains which goes across her chest until attached at her right arm.

While in her "Persephone's Wrath" form, her appearance changes with that of her hair becoming darker, being tainted with a dark blue colour and the scelera of her eyes turning a dark grey. In addition to that, her eyes will begin to shine brightly with a tint of red, signifying the emotion of anger. Red marks will also start appearing on her rosy skin such as the ones forming from her eyes all the way across her cheeks embodying the concept of blood flowing down from her eyes. Her nails will begin to take form in a longer length almost as those of sharp claws and be tinted with a dark red, as if being dipped in blood.

Personality

Persephone is a graceful and dignified person. She is also extremely friendly and outgoing as shown being able to get along with other gods as well as being playful with and joking alongside Zeus. Others described her to have a sweet and tender expression on herself. Persephone is a responsible person as despite being mainly the goddess of spring, she still takes on her role in the Netherworld earnestly.

Persephone is known to be considerate to others, such as when she defended Ares from being made fun of from her husband Hades in concern for him and his feelings considering the fact Ares does look up to him. This quality of hers however does not fall short towards that of humans, as she shows great empathy for them and their plight of mankind's destruction.

With this said, she is someone able to stand up for herself and do what she thinks is right, with the fact that she was one of the gods who were against the destruction of humanity. This being that she believes all live forms deserves a chance of living without the divine intervention of any higher beings for its obliteration. One could say that this way of thinking of hers is an optimistical thinking, always seeing things for what they could be and never deameaning anything or anyone without justificated reasons.

Despite her innocent aura, there is a particularly darker side to Persephone's personality, which is her form namingly "Persephone's Wrath". Although once with kind nature, this side of hers is not one to be taken lightly of as she holds the capability of doing something brutal or saying insensitive things in the face of this state of hers which personifies anger and rage. In this form, she is capable of expressing immense hatred towards someone who has done her wrong or is the victim of her anger.

Having said that, she is indeed capable of getting upset normally without the form of "Persephone's Wrath", it just isn't as intense as when that side of her's takes into possession. The example of the feelings of her anger without "Persephone's Wrath" is when she showed her feelings of upset after finding out her husband had lost the seventh round of Ragnarok and had already been sent to Niflhel.

Eventhough she is a person of just, she is not a vengeful one. This can be seen by when feeling grief of her husband's death, she did not choose to seek out revenge on Qin Shi Huang like Adamantine did, but rather chose to forgive him despite feeling contempt towards him at first for taking her husband's life.

Abilities

Overall Abilities: Persephone who despite not being apart of the Twelve Gods of Olympus, was in no way weak as she was the goddess who held the roles of both Queen of the Netherworld and goddess of spring. As the Queen of the Netherworld, Persephone is quite powerful, more so than a demigod though less so compared to her husband Hades.

Physical Abilities

Godly Strength: While not as powerful as her husband Hades, Persephone possesses immense physical strength.

Supernatural Abilities

Semi-Immortality: As a goddess, Persephone has a limitless lifespan and does not age, in other words is incapable of dying from old age.

Divine Physiology: As a goddess, Persephone possess physical abilities far greater than any ordinary human. Her body can not be harmed by mortal weapons, however she can still be harmed by unarmed attacks from individuals with superhuman strength and Divine Weapons.

Chlorokinesis: As the goddess of spring and nature, Persephone has absolute control and divine authority over plant-life forms and flowers of such. She can grow healthy plants rather fast and create flowers out of absolutely nothing.

Techniques

Persephone's Wrath (ペルセポネの怒り, Perusepone no Ikari): A transformation which roots from the anger and range of Persephone alone. In this state, her appearance changes and she is granted immense strength and power. However at the cost of this, her body will slowly loose its functions. When harbouring anger at a higher level of intensity, her surroundings will begin to burn to ashes. This does not affect most of her body, however can be vital to sensitive organs such as the eyes, for example making the possibility of leading the said part to be rendered useless with partial or complete blindness.

Quotes
  • (When Hades made fun of Ares) "Darling, don't tease dear Ares too much like that...he's going to be sullen, we all know he does look up to you after all."
  • (To Name) "inset quote"
Trivia
  • Her starsign is Virgo.
  • Her alias Kore means “the maiden”.
  • Her favourite food is the pomegranate fruit.
  • Her favourite animals are deers and dogs.
  • Her favourite flowers include asphodels, narcissus, willow flowers, lily of the valley and spring flowers.
  • She has her own garden in the Netherworld, personally gifted by Hades which she tends to in her free time. It is mostly filled with her favourite flowers with different kinds of plants to add.
  • She tends to wear long dresses most of the times for her clothing choices.
  • Her hobbies include nurturing flowers and tending to plants as well as playing chess with her husband and or his pet bird.
  • During her time in the Netherworld, she has a pet bat which she uses to deliver letters to her mother whom resides in Valhalla.
  • It was mentioned that colours associated with Persephone are mainly green, gold, yellow and red, while the other additional colours being black, light blue, purple, magenta and indigo which are all shown to be colours of Hades.
  • She can be seen accompanied by nymphs that serve her as the goddess of spring. However when with Hades, she will seemingly be alone unaccompanied by anyone other than her husband.
  • Unlike the original myths, Persephone's father is not Zeus and therefore is not related to Hades in any way.
Design Trivia
  • Her eyes were made to be in a golden yellow colour as Hades' eyes are of purple in colour, and yellow is considered purple's complimentary color as well as it both being the opposite of each other on the color wheel.
  • The flowers in her design are a reference to her roots of being the goddess of spring and nature.
  • Her hair colour was decided to be a pale chestnut as some references stated that the goddess Persephone's hair was of pink colour. And to add to that statement, in art depictions she is seen to have warm coloured hair (ex. red and ginger).
  • Her civic wreath hair piece is placed on the same side as Hades' leaf-like pattern forehead tattoo.
  • Her white dress which fades upwards into black with floral petal patterns are a symbolization of 'getting tainted by Helheim' as she was once solely the goddess of spring but now resides in the Netherworld additionally as the goddess of the dead.
  • The colours of her outfit are made to contrast Hades' as his is adorned with more white and hers with more black. Though their heavenly roles are contradicting to their own design colours, this could be signifying that they are each other's half and are a part of each other.
  • Her rosy eyeshadow was added to represent rose powder which was used as olden-day makeup made from crushed flowers as she is the goddess of spring and nature.

Allies and Family

Hades is Persephone's husband. Both of the gods seem to love each other very much, which can be seen by how much Hades dotes on his wife and treats her like a queen. He allows her to do as she pleases as he respects her well. He is a caring and loving husband towards her and he sees her as his equal if not anything higher. This fact was proven as to when he gives her half of the Netherworld to reign over alongside with him.

Persephone has a really good relationship with her mother. Demeter is known to be very overly protective of her daughter as she loves her wholeheartedly.

Cerberus is loyal and highly protective of Persephone. Hades has introduced her to him at the beginning of her residency and reign of the Netherworld, which lead to them getting along quite well. Since Cerberus respects Hades and has pledged loyalty to him, the same was done for her as she is the wife of the King of the Netherworld. Unlike Heracles who punched him into submission, Pershephone showered him with undying affection since she seems to love dogs as it is one of her favourite animals, this is probably as to why the hound adores her so. When not summoned, Cerberus can be seen around Persephone in a human sized form, with the size enough to fit onto her lap. He enjoys getting headpats and hugs from her and when with the goddess, Cerberus does not appear to be a vicious and savage creature anymore but a domesticated puppy. This has often got Hades laughing at the fact all while stating that the dog is too attached to his wife, not that he minds or bothers to question.
