Lis (splatsona)

Splatoon 1/Pre-Splatoon 2 Era: Lis, or Lily never really talks about their childhood openly to others, but they grew up in a rich household and their parents are rich business investors that focus particularly on fashion companies. As a child, they were often left alone and not allowed to hang out with any friends, and they were homeschooled until they decided to leave and run away from home.

One day, Lily found their grandfather’s old splattershot jr. and they found out that their grandfather was a famous competitive player. Eventually, they started to watch early competitive footage and become obsessed with competitive play, wanting to become just like her grandfather. When Lily’s parents found out about this, they got mad and prevented her from playing competitively, as they wanted her to focus on the business instead so she could inherit it from her parents. Lily disagreed with that and decided to leave once they turned 18, taking the old splattershot jr with her. 

To evade getting caught and sent back, they changed their name to Lis and changed their pronouns to they/them. Lis refuses to open up about their childhood and will instantly change the subject, as she is currently no contact with her parents and anyone from her past.

Splatoon 2 Era/Octo Expansion: Lily ends up moving to Inkopolis and starts to compete in local turf war tournaments for practice and she starts to gain her skills then. They end up meeting loads of people during this time, including Kasumi and Oonie (Seansona). Lily and Kasumi become good friends, and started to do duo turf wars together frequently. Lily then meets Oonie through this, and they also become good friends. 

One day, Lily ends up in the Squidbeak Splatoon hideout by accidentally going down the grates, and she is recruited by Marie to help get the great zapfish. They eventually start to work for Squidbeak Splatoon consistently as “Agent 4”. At first, Lily didn’t like the work, but ended up continuing with it because it paid good. They were able to get enough money to get an apartment and also focus on their competitive career by getting weapon and ink tank upgrades. 

Lily ends up meeting more people that she starts to play with often. She ends up meeting her first teammate, Uni at a skatepark after she almost gets hit by Uni’s skateboard. Even though Lily didn’t get the best first impression of Uni, they eventually meet again at Sheldon’s shop when Uni is looking for a new weapon. Lily helps them find a weapon that she ends up liking by playing multiple turf wars together, which they become good friends. Afterwards, they both end up meeting Neon and Ace, childhood best friends, when the 4 of them are grouped up for a small tournament together. Although they all had their disputes, they ended up winning the tournament together, and they decided to play competitively together as Team LUNA. 

Between Splatoon 2 & Splatoon 3 Era: Sometime later, Lily and Oonie started to go out and date after Lily gets the guts to ask him out. Lily keeps working for Squidbeak Splatoon while also playing competitively, and after the events of Octo Expansion, they end up meeting Silver (Agent 8). Lily is tasked with training Silver so she can work full time, and they end up going on a bunch of recon missions together. 

Silver and Lily end up becoming really close friends during this time because they find out they both have a lot of similar issues and interests (becoming an agent and the struggles that come with it). Their missions would often span for days at a time, so they spent a lot of time together, and Lily even brought along Silver to meet her friends and Team LUNA. Lily eventually found out that Silver had a crush on them, but didn’t really do anything about it, as they were still dating Oonie. Lily didn’t want to confront Silver about it, but dropped obvious hints that they were dating someone.

The number of recon missions bounced up because Marie and Callie found out that the octarians were using the zapfish for a more harmful purpose. Zapfish were used to create harmful laser weapons that could potentially kill inklings. Lily and Silver were tasked to start retrieving mini zapfish and destroying laser weapons. One day, Silver and Lily were on a recon mission when they were ambushed by a group of sanitized octolings while retrieving a mini zapfish. During this mission while Lily was holding the zapfish, the octolings tried to take the zapfish, and when Lily and Silver ran to get it back, Lily was shot with a laser directly on their eyes. Instead of taking the zapfish, Silver had to pick up Lily and take her back to the headquarters.

Lily ended up being permanently blind from the accident in her left eye. Her right eye surprisingly survived, and she was able to see from it, but her left eye was blinded forever. Lily was distraught at this and when she first woke up, she instantly blamed Silver and cut off their friendship. When she fully realized that she wasn’t going to be able to see, Lily ended up quitting her job at Squidbeak Splatoon and also disbanded team LUNA because she believed she wouldn’t be able to do anything anymore. Having the loss of income, Lily ended up losing their home, and Oonie ended up taking them in so they wouldn’t be living on the streets.

Splatoon 3 Era: When Kasumi, now being famous as the idol persona “Marine Melody”, found out about Lily’s state, she decided to visit Lily and help them out. Using her connections, Kasumi connected Lily with Pololia, a fashion designer, so she could find a way to aide Lily while also hiding her blind eye. After doing research, Pololia found out about assistive technology, which would give aides to disabled people. Pololia designed Lily a pair of modified 18K aviators with assistive technology so Lily would be able to see with her remaining eye, and also get help seeing in her blind spot. Once Lily got those glasses, they started to go to therapy, and also physical therapy to help them out. From that, Lily and Oonie decided to move to the Splatlands for a fresh start.

Kasumi reaches out to Lily again after a while with a proposition to start a competitive team that is sponsored by her. When asked why Kasumi said that she couldn’t really see anyone else leading that said team besides Lily and recalled fondly of when they’d play turf war together. At Kasumi’s insistence, Lily took on the task of becoming the team captain of the new Marine Melody team and they started to recruit. 

Lily ended up recruiting Oonie first before they started to look for their other teammates Chomp, Tombs and Scrub. Once the team was banded together, they started to practice frequently. Lily struggled at first due to their semi-blindness, but started to adapt and get used to playing. 

While Lily was focusing on her competitive career, they started to become more obsessed with assistive technology as she wanted to get better at the game. Kasumi and Pololia  end up linking her with Marina, who helps collaborate with her to make stronger assistive technology. Lily ends up becoming too obsessed with the technology that she starts to miss important practices and events since she is hooked up with creating her own perfect world with the assistive technology.

Right now, Lily lives in Rivitis and travels frequently with their competitive Splatoon team. They are going through both physical (vision) and psychological therapy to deal with their trauma. Lily is also still dating Oonie and they are currently engaged.
