Story

  Yamada Taro(11) is a boy who was born and grew up in a slum. He is the big brother who has 4 younger siblings. This family also has a drunk father who works for the family and a sweet housewife mother. Taro and his siblings don't have to go to school because his family can't afford the school fees. So the siblings got homeschooled and taught by their mother. But it's not good quality education.

        Because Taro is the oldest brother, he has to help his mother take care of his siblings. He rarely lives like a child of the same age. He spends his free time learning to embroider to sew clothes for himself and his siblings, so they don't need to buy new ones. And he also works in embroidery work as extra money to relieve the burden at home. Other than that, Taro's day was nothing more than watching TV, sewing, and taking care of his siblings. Watching TV is another small entertainment that allows him to see and imagine the vast world outside; The world of entertainment. That was the beginning of his little dream of wanting to be an actor, which his family also know about this.

        4 years later Taro(15) has aged up. He isn't only working in embroidery, but he always accepting all sorts of miscellaneous tasks without choice. He got physically abused in some jobs in exchange for getting more money. One day, he was battered back home, finding his mother had died in an accident. Sometimes bad luck brings good luck, his family received a certain amount of insurance money that his mother secretly made. Even if it's not that much money, it's enough to live on. Taro has divided the money to enter the acting academy to pursue his dream with the support of his siblings(His father has no comment about this). Taro entered the academy with a determined heart. The teachers in the acting academy didn't expect Taro much because he is poor. They just want to take his money and expelled him from this academy. But it turned out that when Taro tried to study, he can perform better than their expectation and exceeded the standard so far. He can perform better than the student who studies in this academy before him, so he can graduate from the acting academy within 1 year. In the meantime, this academy also taught him how to sing, makeup, and dress.

        Taro(16) who graduated from the acting academy was approached to be an actor by a small production. He is really glad to do it because it's his dream job and he can get more money. But when his life is getting better, in a cruel twist of fate, he found his father is fired from his work and was in large debt from unscrupulous loans. His father is very stressed and desperate for life, he stops doing everything but drinking. So Taro has to be a tower of strength for his family.

        One day Taro heard rumors about the Genki Shrine that said 'If you ask for anything, it will always come true'. That time was exactly the time when the shrine was famous for the snake god. So he had a chance to visit and pray. He wished his father to get to work again, wished for his family's wealth, and also wished to be rich overnight. He hung on blessing Ema and heads back home. But on the way back home, he bumps into his father's informal debt gang, they seized all his money and beat him. Misfortune never comes alone, and the rain is pouring hard like it was the worst day of his life. It made him open his eyes and realized that praying would not help anything.

        The next day, Taro came back to the Genki Shrine to announce to everyone that this shrine is unholy, stop being superstitious! But before he did that, he met Genki Izayo(12) a shrine maiden. She asked him how he was doing because he was badly bruised and looked very angry when he got there. Taro told her that he will unfold this shrine and tell everyone that this shrine is unholy. Izayo immediately shut him up and said "The god will get upset if he heard that!" This made Taro confused and asked her back "What god?" Then Izayo took Taro to sit down and bandaged him, telling him about the Snake God and the history of Genki Shrine. Taro noticed something and asked Izayo if she had ever met the real Snake God. Izayo answered that she had never met her god, but she still believe in him. This made Taro start to think of something and offer to Izayo that he can make the Snake God truly appear. Izayo is very happy to hear that and accepts his offer. Taro asked Izayo more about the Snake God, he need to gather this god's information to pretend to be her god perfectly. The next day, Taro tried on his makeup as Izayo told him, and decided to hold the first snake god ceremony at this shrine, and everything went well. Then his story will continue as Genki Souichiro's Story.

        Because Taro's performance was flawless. Everyone including Izayo and the people of the Genki family believed that he could actually communicate with Snake God as well.

        Taro is still worried about his dept. If he was known to be a spiritual medium on TV he will get beaten and seized all his money again. So he asked Izayo and her father for help. He borrows the Genki clan's alias name for his own safety. Izayo's father who is the current shrine leader agrees and gave Taro the pseudonym: Genki Soichiro because it would be beneficial for both sides. The Genki gained fame and faith, and Taro gets secured for his family.

        Taro (18) continued to work like this for years. Being an (actor) medium who deceives the benefactor like the Genki family, deceives all who believe in Snake God, and used their faith as his tool. Even though he can feel some guilt, it was something he couldn't go back to.
