short version: jenny got bit.

long version: iphigenia mary-grace callahan (a name that jenny loves unironically, but has shelved for the time being since it's kind of a mouthful) died along with the rest of her family in 1917 when one of her father's business deals upset a very old, very powerful clan of vampires. most vampires belong to clans and don't sire any new ones, so jenny's a very unusual case of a vampire getting a little too careless. she joined up with a supernatural detective agency in the late 1920s, which had been founded due to the unusual spike in demonic activity, and stayed with them until the evil had been vanquished, at which point she spent some time traveling the world, meeting new people, and never staying in one place long enough to have to watch her friends age and die. but there's another rise in demonic activity as of late, and it's starting to look like jenny's going to have to come out of retirement and start up the do-gooders again. she's not really sure how to feel about that.

Arc One

jenny has to file a bunch of boring paperwork so that the do-gooders can be a legitimate business and construct a database so that she's not just working with pieces of evidence here and there. the paperwork is done 100% legally. the database is constructed by borrowing various files from the nearby police precinct, aided by a thoroughly underpaid secretary by the name of miss charlotte, who's working towards becoming a librarian in her spare time. jenny's kinda smitten.

Arc Two

miss charlotte, now a fully qualified and happily employed librarian, is dating some lady. not that jenny cares. jenny's too busy hiring people for her super cool detective agency, and jenny hasn't dated in like FIFTY YEARS ANYWAY. YOU HEAR THAT MISS CHARLOTTE??? SHE DOESN'T NEED TO DATE PEOPLE

Arc Three

so tasha just introduced jenny to the concept of "casual hookups." also jenny's kind of set up a fully functioning detective agency & is kind of trying her hardest to get miss charlotte to work with her and her new amazing team. oh yeah and there's still weird supernatural stuff going on but like. jenny's love life is very much at the top of her agenda most of the time.

• jenny's always flirting. like it's a legitimate issue and the team keeps telling her to Stop Flirting With Clients.
• tasha is sort of jenny's best friend? some true lesbian/bi solidarity there
• jenny and oliver are always having an ongoing argument about something truly ridiculous.
• jenny's got a little "world's best boss" plaque in her office that natalie gave her. she loves it.
