Mycel

Lives deep in a magical forest in a cavern under the ocean. They rarely move from their spot atop a throne of eternally-decomposing wood. They are a collector of ancient knowledge, but are just as likely to ensnare you as fungus food as they are to assist you on your quest. They send out tendrils of mycelium all throughout their forest and beyond, acting as communication hub for all of the plants and fungi in the forest. Plant and fungi-based bays included. 

They have a number of just as incomprehensible and mythical friends scattered throughout their mycelium network, of unusual bays who bring them news and information. If they are especially satisfied with the knowledge or stories given, they may also grant the other bay immortality, or a body puppeted by fungus. To them, they are the same. To others, perhaps not.
