Background

Caise was an orphan and grew up under the care of King Jasper Regis and his adviser Percival. Both men were cruel and manipulative and had a grudge against the young prince, Jasper's son, so their personalities were taught to Caise as well. Since Jethrope is nearly 11 years older than Caise they never got along very well to begin with. When he became old enough he was employed as the King's personal servant and when they king died he was convinced Jethrope had something to do with it and would come after him next so he ran. However he was not able to escape and was caught by guards and thrown into a cell on grounds of treason and desertion. However, Jethrope made a deal with him and he was kept on as a lower indentured servant on a short leash instead of serving time in prison. While Caise preferred service over imprisonment he still considered his position as slavery and became to resent Jethrope even more for it.
