PERSONALITY
He comes off as cocky and confident to most, but he has a major soft spot for his loved ones. While he does end up talking himself into trouble sometimes, he’s usually able to get out of tough spots and keep his reputation. He hates being wrong and taking no for an answer, and sometimes just argues to be right, even if he knows he’s wrong. He’ll be the first person to call bs or stand up for his friends, to which he’s very loyal regardless of how long he’s known them. He tends to tease anyone he’s into and will flirt with almost anybody, which leads to him being popular with the girls despite not being into them. Though he’s very clingy, he saves certain playful actions and sayings for people he really likes. He’s relatively smart but can be a bit scatterbrained at times due to his ADHD.
BACKSTORY
Hunter was born and raised on Xibagantu by his mother and lived in West Crytze, Efnor for a while. He originally lived with his father and younger brother, Haden, until they moved away to Iinowae when his parents got divorced around age seven. He spent a lot of his childhood moving around the planet, but he never minded switching schools and enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. However, when he was fourteen, he and his mother visited Iinowae to take Haden back into custody after they got ear of how he was fairing alone. It was easier to stay there instead of spending more money traveling back to Xibagantu, so they stayed in Sequoia.
After meeting Agnes through Haden, their mom eventually remarried another man who already had a daughter, Julia. None of the brothers like her much, but they like seeing their mother happy, even though she often spends more time prioritizing her relationship than her kids since they’re older now. Even with his visible Xibagantan pattern, Hunter has still easily fit in and befriended the other Iinowaens at his school. For a while, he was self-conscious and even attempted to dye his hair, despite it being against the law. However, all his friends comforted him, and though some Iinowaens have attempted to harass him at school, he usually never brings it up. Still, Agnes tends to send death threats to anyone who bothers him.
RELATIONSHIPS
Hunter was one of the many attendants at Agnes’ party once he returned from the Commander’s possession where he was tested for several months. Hunter found the anxious Iinowaen hiding in the back of the house in the laundry room and did his best to comfort and stop him from weeping. Even though Agnes usually kept his emotions to himself, he explained how uneasy he was about the party and how ashamed he was after knowing the results of his sexuality. He was desperate to be what he thought was normal, and after dealing with so much as a kid, he didn’t want yet another flaw to deal with. He was fighting with his identity and was terrified of how his future would end up now that everyone knew.
Eventually, Agnes stopped crying due to Hunter’s compliments, flirts, and actions. In an attempt to console him, Hunter tried to explain his identity so he would know he wasn’t alone, but Agnes didn’t believe him. On a whim, Hunter kissed him, and though he was flustered, he kissed him back. Afterward, the Xibagantan promised to help Agnes with anything he needed—advice, tutoring, relationships—anything. Until they officially started dating, the Iinowaen refused to accept that they ever kissed.
After the party, Agnes’ life relatively returned to normal and Hunter started tutoring him. It usually took place either at their houses or at the library but regardless of location, Hunter would always tease and flirt with him and eventually made it heavily clear that he liked the younger boy. For ages, Agnes tried to stay in denial, but before he knew it, he had fallen for him too. However, he had no idea how to act on it and got help in confessing to him through a card he made since he was afraid he had come off so cold that Hunter assumed he didn’t want him around. After Hunter talked to Agnes about the gift, they officially started dating. Agnes still acts cold at times, but the Xibagantan has always found it cute and knows that while they’re alone, Agnes will often pour his heart out.
