Nightbane

Nightbane (formerly known as Keeneye) was born into a notorious mob family along with his brother, Nightstalk. The two of them grew up well together at first, learning the art of the crime and developing an affinity for a life of killing. They both knew that when they came of age they would be forced to fight, with the winner slated as next-in-command for the mob and the loser- well, dying. This was something they'd prepared for their entire lives, and although this didn't greatly affect their relationship when they were little, it became a much more present divide between them once their father was killed due to his own stupid mistake. Their mother, wracked with grief and furious at their father for leaving her alone with two kids, chose to focus on training one instead of the both of the brothers seeing as one of them was destined to die anyway. Evidently, she chose to favor Nightstalk- seeing too much of their father in Nightbane and not wanting to let someone like him lead the family again.

This clear favoritism caused the brothers to drift apart, Nightbane hating feeling second-best and always doing his damnest to get some kind of recognition- even if it meant acting reckless and only proving his mother right. Once they'd hit the age of 16 the time came for the brothers to fight, and Nightbane expected an easy victory, as he was the bigger of the two and found that his raw strength typically got him what he wanted. However his brother had been practicing magic under the teachings of their mother, and managed to have him beat rather quickly. Nightbane played dead- keeping it up long enough to land a harsh blow onto his brother and giving him the chance to escape. He's considered highly wanted by their crime syndicate now, as to skirt one's death is considered an embarrassment to the family.

Since fleeing his old life, he decided to give himself a completely fresh start. Giving himself the name "Nightbane" and keeping his blue eye- a family trait of the mob- covered, he chose to continue doing what he knows best and provide for himself through a life of crime. He primarily takes hit jobs now, taking out whatever high-value targets he can find while avoiding being hunted down himself.

Nightbane especially takes pleasure in targeting his own family when it comes to his criminal deeds, wanting to rub in his brother's face just how better off and successful he is on his own. As much as he puts on the act that he's much happier alone, interally he hopes that one day he'll be able to get back at his brother and take over the mob- which he still believes should rightfully be his.
