Pancake is a pet that the twins obtained shortly after the disappearance of their parents. As they lived on the family rabbit farm and Jackalopes as a species like to make homes among regular rabbits/hares, he just showed up among the hutches one day. As he was very clearly not an Angora rabbit like the others, the twins found him immediately and became enamored. Their leading hunch on what took their parents was something supernatural/magical, so they took Pancake's appearance as a sign that even weirder happenings could have effected the area.

While Pancake had nothing to do with the twins' parents and they ran into too many deadends in their search, they really did take a shining to their funky hare pet. Even four years later, living in an entirely different area, Pancake is always found sitting on Ruska's shoulders or napping in Reece's jackets. Everyone around them thinks that Pancake's wide-eyed, unnerving stare is...very creepy, however.
