Appearance:

Kalru has warm brown skin and long red hair that he sometimes styles with beads or braids. He wears loose flowing pants, soft leather boots fit for walking, and a set of beaded and engraved bracers, one of which has a very small abacus set into it. He rarely wear shirts, initially due to Gau destroying all of them in his attempts to kill him, and later on due to a “lucky“ shirt becoming an ill omen. When on official duty as a Lorespeaker, he does however, wear a tie.

Backstory:

Originally merchants from Ossyrian, Kalru’s family moved south to the Mowangi after the events of [Adventure Path redacted]. Along with other displaced peoples, they set up shop in the magical and mysteriously abandon city of Jaha.

Kalru’s relentless friendliness allowed him to join many exploration teams he was unqualified for, and one day they discovered a magical circle in the depths of a long empty structure. The runes of the circle promised destruction and sorrow to anyone who dared to release the creature imprisoned within.

… But Kalru couldn’t read any of these, so he let it out.

Gau:

When Kalru broke the circle, the magical runes transferred themselves to his own skin, becoming an elaborate magical tattoo that takes up most of his back, binding Gau to him instead. 

Initially Kalru brought Gau to the Magumbia in the hopes of learning more about what he is, but their time spent together has let their uneasy peace become a strong mutual bond (but don’t ask Gau to admit anything).

Flaws:

Superstitious.
Too credulous.
Cries when he is happy, sad, or emotional generally.
Panics immediately if asked to lie.

Ideals 

Bigness is beautiful.  
Bigness is a state of mind.  
Become strong, protect the small.  
Nature is cruel, but people don’t need to be.  
If you want to protect, you can’t be a pacifist
