Pari's Links
Listening to plant-related lectures would have likely piqued Pari’s interest at least a little bit… if she weren’t stuck sitting in a crusty old lecture room, forced to listen to the world’s most grating voice go on and on…
While she was spacing out, she spent most of her time watching the attendees, and Sureha was definitely one she can clearly remember. Sureha struck her as someone similar to herself in a way— stubborn perhaps, but sticking to a personally set ideal and keeping others at a safe distance. Even through their conversations at the rangers’ outposts about herbs, Pari can clearly feel a methodical approach to her responses— maybe it was a little intimidating, but fascinating nonetheless.
It was a bit of a shock when Pari learned that the lady went missing. She wasn’t clear on what could have led to this event, but deep down, she knew it was a voluntary decision. For once, Pari regretted not being more interested in parts of Sureha’s life— though it wouldn't have been natural, and the lady likely wouldn’t have liked that. It felt as if she had lost something that never even started. Nowadays, Pari can’t help but think about the lady from time to time, and hopes she’s doing well— wherever she may be. It would be nice to see her again, there’s a new plant variant she wants to share and talk about.
The Amurta and Forest Rangers often collaborated as organisations. "Sureha", back then still a normal Sumeru citizen, would sometimes find herself sitting in the same seminar room as Pari for a lecture about medicinal herbs. Pari would often be called out in class by the lecturer for spacing out, so Sureha had come to recognise her appearance over time. Once in a while, Sureha would run a herb collection errand for the clinic at the rangers' outpost, during which she would strike up conversation about the herbs she was purchasing. Pari in particular was very knowledgeable about ways to nurture them, so Sureha often talked with her, sharing some tips on pain relief concoctions in exchange. At some point long after, Sureha had visited the outpost alone to buy seeds instead of her usual mix of herb stalks. As usual, she asked Pari for advice about soil mixes, and bid farewell after she was sure she understood the details well enough. Soon after, the doctor herself went missing from Sumeru city. The matra traced their evidence to Avidya Forest where she was spotted, but couldn't find more leads. In many ways, Sureha was thankful for having Pari around all this while. It was one thing to receive the knowledge to independently manage a herb field, and another to have gotten it from someone who doesn't ask many personal questions. That way, her escape was as clean as it could get. As for her job, Haan will replace her just fine. It's not like Pari would miss her.
Pari never really cares for gossip, but finds the talk circulating Ha'rish to be quite intriguing, especially the one regarding the torture device. When she happened to see him at the main outpost in Gandharva Ville, she thought he was just some random guy who always had a sort of displeased aura about him, often with an irritated expression. It was surprising when he began to always seek her out— as she was certain her customer service wasn’t the best, with her curt mannerisms and whatnot. Not to mention, the various fungi, herbs and berries he was looking for happened to be dangerous in nature… but hey, it’s none of her business.
She found herself staring at the guy more than she should… can someone of the Matra really be… this flashy? Not only were his clothes beautiful, but that eyeliner, that perfectly symmetrical facial structure— Maybe she should stop staring, who knows what the guy is thinking. Sometimes he stares back, making her think that he may be picking a fight.
Strictly speaking, matra duties seldom require Harish to visit the Forest Rangers. However, every once in a while, he has to top up on ingredients used to enhance his work tools. Hallucinogenic fungi... poisonous berries... emetic herbs... The plant material he requires aren't hard for him to recognise. The problem lies with the exact location the freshest patch of these were growing. When asking for help, Harish is extra careful to avoid chatty and nosy rangers, lest they start prying into the specifics of his work. It's not by chance that he always goes to Pari to guide him through the forest. She comes across as a person who minds her own business. Harish sometimes finds himself distracted by her stares. Her eyes… huge like a doll’s… keeps making him think she has something to say. However, whenever he pauses, expecting her to speak up, she keeps quiet and holds the stare like she's sizing him up for a fight. It’s fine, he's not annoyed about it. An odd personality is tolerable as long as the person looks cute.
When Pari saw Ha’an for the first time, she had momentarily forgotten that twins were a thing and thought that Ha’rish had gone through mitosis and split into 2 or something.
In the end, she ended up seeing Ha’an more often than his brother as he came by each week to pick up supplies. It didn’t take long to get used to his presence; He was quick to start a conversation and often seen helping out her co-rangers. She saw him as reliable and somewhat charming, with a tendency to talk too much for her attention span (though she doesn’t mind if it’s something interesting.) With that, Pari came to recognize his mannerisms when he had a hangover, he’d be groggier, slightly slower. Binge drinkers are a type that Pari hates dealing with— she had experienced more than a few on the job, slumped over and puking on the sides of trees. Disgusting. Aren’t they embarrassed? She shouldn’t care about what he decides to do, he’s a grown man after all… but Ha’an will die an early death at this rate. For now, sneaking in some spare herbs to soothe his hangovers will suffice. Fine, she’ll be a respectable ranger today and do her job properly.
Lately, it feels like Ha’an has something to say… what could it be? Is there a possible third triplet that she should know of?
After taking over restocking duty, Haan has been visiting Gandharva Ville at the end of each week to buy fresh ingredients from the Forest Rangers. One of the rangers he runs into is Pari, whom he recognised from mentions by Harish and his senior—tan skin, huge eyes, spaced out expression, cute. Despite her looking bored half the time, Haan thinks she is a kind and conscientious soul. Why else would she keep giving him hangover cures alongside the usual supplies? Hollup, if even someone from outside the city can tell he's been drinking the day before, he needs to get a grip;;; More recently, Haan coincidentally witnessed Harish working with Pari ("wth are those uncomfy stare-downs they're doing...?"). Since then, he feels obliged to give Pari a heads up about his brother's... oddities (and also offer an apology as someone who shares Harish's face). Problem: he's been struggling to word an explanation without making it sound terrible. In the end, he finds himself brushing off his plans and shifting the conversation to herbs instead. Seeing how Pari's head is usually only filled with plant-like thoughts, Haan can only hope she doesn't find either of them too intrusive.
A man Pari noticed at her post one day— being bored, she decided to stare at him from afar. 👁️👁️
“Why do you look so familiar… eh, whatever.”
He must have noticed her staring, whoops. Sorry dude. She’ll look away just cuz he looks kinda on edge now.
Ryan has a feeling this girl is judging him. Yes... look away. He totally doesn't look like anyone she knows. Definitely.
