Tohru Utani
Twin Brother
Tohru is Saeko's twin brother who is only older by 3 minutes, though you'd think he was years older by the way he speaks to her. Despite his rebellious appearance, he's the responsible one out of the two of them, and has been taking care of her since they were kids. He has a horrible chain smoking habit the Saeko often lectures him about, yet he can never seem to quit for more than a few days at a time.
Even with how frequently they seem to bicker with each other, the Utani twins are inseparable and won't tolerate anyone who messes with the other.
Maiko Maeda
Best Friend
Maiko, lovingly nicknamed Mai Mai, and Saeko have been best friends for as long as they can remember. They grew up with each other and, after the death of Kou's parents, Mai was one of the only people Saeko had in her life. She, Kou, and Tohru all consider each other to be siblings - she's even jokingly referred to as the third Utani twin (which does not make sense, but y'know.)
Maiko is a lesbian who often strongly disproves of Saeko's choice in men and isn't quiet about how she feels - she's even scared off a few of the girl's boyfriends. Despite this, the girls are always together and somehow rarely fight.
