"What's the point in doing something if I'm not good at it?"
As a child, Francis was always praised for her magical abilities. Spellcasting just seemed to come naturally to her, so she kept at it and became one of the top spellcasters in her grade. Backstory
First Day
Francis was administered a magical aptitude test on her first day at Widdershins. She wasn’t concerned about it—rather, she was excited to prove how good she was at tests. However, none of her spells were working! She failed the test, dealing a crushing blow to her psyche, and was placed in the group alongside similarly weak spellcasters. This decision was none too popular with Francis, who prided herself on her spell casting abilities, but she couldn’t argue, given that she couldn’t cast any spells.
