It's said that many things are responsible for Dr Xavier's supposed insanity. Indulging in the Correspondence, the murder of his beloved husband up on the Surface, seeing the true face of one of the Masters, delving into Rat culture, dealing with devils, and associating with many of the Neath's more... dangerous occupants. Some call him pleasant. Some call him vicious. Some call on him in the dead of night for a comforting presence in their bed. Most call him Doctor, but he's anything but a physician.
Lucien is mostly a master thief, but he's well acquainted with the arts, the docks, and the insides of the University. He spends his time in Watchful and Shadowy professions, often with an onterage of several Rattus Faber - whom he calls his coworkers. Lucien frequents many Rat workshops to lend his aid, finding far more company with them at times than people in and around London.
The death of his spouse haunts him every day, but he is slowly moving on, even as he drowns himself in work, wine and honey. His rivalry with Lieutennant Blutcher brings a spark to his life that nothing else has managed to do.
