Hachi

probably my most self drawn character.. and he’s just an octopus dude.. nice

my character who takes the role of agent 8, i just made him look COOLER (worse). his “codename” (which is actually just a nickname cuttlefish gave him and everyone uses, he’s not actually an agent rather an honorary member) is not his real name. he doesn’t recall his original name, but takes Eight as his official title. He simply takes San’s last name, so his full legal name is Eight Inamari. Hachi is another nickname.

he’s quiet and gentle, pretty much a sweetheart, but he’d prefer to be left alone to his silly ahh mechanisms and his closest friends. he’s very compassionate and is willing to listen to anyone, though. doesn’t like fighting, but shows promise in combat. he prefers intellect anyways. he was an octarian technician who was employed very young, and once he reached 14 he was forced to enroll as a potential elite soldier in training as well. this is eventually how he crosses paths with san and befriends her (and also immediately falls in love with her). he had only a few friends during his octarian army days, and desperately wants to protect his only family member left: his little sister. his parents had died earlier, and was left under the supervision of a strict higher up. since he was employed to a different field than his little sister, he rarely sees her. he does have a salmonid friend that keeps him company, though, a steel eel pilot he nicknamed hyaku.

he falls into the metro with san when he’s 16 during a “revolt” both planned in order to help him and other octarians escape octo valley, meaning more trauma for two child soldiers YIPPEE i love splatoon. anyways he sees the unseeable and cries a lot but it’s okay he gets his squid girl crush back even though she got a little fucked up..

he spends most of his time after reaching the surface trying to not go insane- i mean dealing with technology and exploring his hobbies and passions.. and hanging around with his girlfriend.. and new friends.. pearl and marina fund (spoil) him, he visits them so often that they have a room for him (and includes space for san if he wants to drag along his emotional support girlfriend)

he also adopts roe alongside san during this inbetween period, and since roe is a salmonid he grows wicked quick so he already left the house to go traveling by the time ROTM and SO take place.

however, when he’s 21 he gets stuck in a little bit of shenanigans with marina’s side project and literally loses a chunk of his soul so he gotta go get it back.. he makes new friends and it’s less traumatic (not the first run though that def traumatized him) but he created little friend.. his robot fish friend.. yaaay

and this time he really begs to just have a normal life after that LOL he spends most of his time at home or in the spire to tinker around with stuff he can bring back and show his wife.. he gets engaged and married yaay… he’s the malewife he does the housework with san goes and makes the dough at alterna and her DJ side gig.. tall buff octoling guy with a cute pink apron making some delicious cuisine for his small girlboss wife type shii.. but since in my canon order gets very unstable and constantly absorbs new information at all times (oddly enough to smollusk’s dismay. it’s very friendly towards hachi after he completed the tower with his palette), hachi is usually the one to go back to the spire and fix any further anomalies. meaning sometimes he gets home a little late and then he and san have takeout dinner instead of his cooking LOL it’s okay though san also has crazy work too

TLDR; he loves his wife :) he doesn’t love his trauma :( all he wants to do all day is cuddle his wife and hang out with his friends and family and get a full 9 hours of sleep every night without having nightmares but apparently that’s too much to ask for
