Wei is a herbalist who gathers herbs for Baizhu's pharmacy from remote areas. She and Qiqi tend to look for Mist Flowers and Flaming Flowers together due to their visions, and thus she has become an official part of the pharmacy's business. Despite the fact that she's given free reign of the region of Liyue, Wei seems to be hiding from something. Or someone.

Teuila, as a Dendro user, handles plants well, and has adopted a fascination with them since she received her vision. As a wanderer, she has visited many regions and seen many a plant and tree, which she passionately jots down in a small notebook. She comes to Baizhu's pharmacy to donate some herbs she had picked on her way to Liyue harbour, and met Wei in the process.

At first the two bond over plants and botany, sharing home-brewed herbal tea and exchanging the seeds and buds of flowers. But soon they both realise there's more to one another's story than meets the eye.

----

Wei's father is an adeptus, which seems to be clear in appearance due to her horns and her unfamiliar features, but what most people don't know is that her father wasn't exactly the nicest person in the world. He imprisoned his only daughter (Wei was 14) in his residence in order to train her personally, leaving his wife to wither away in her room. When she finally died from a severe sickness, Wei's father's grip on her became a chokehold. He became more of a sergeant than a parental figure, and after many years of constant training and lack of affection, she was sent to Liyue Harbour during that year's Lantern Rite in a test of her loyalty to him. Her orders were simple: she was to buy several lanterns and other trinkets as souvenirs from the Rite and take them back after two days.

Wei, however, was enraptured by the beautiful city of Liyue and its festival. She was treated with respect for her adeptus-like features, which both shocked and flattered her, as she had not experienced such respect and kindness from anyone before. She watched the festival's proceedings with awe and deep interest.

Wei decided that evening that she would not go back.

When she didn't show up on the day of her expected return to her father, the adeptus hired Treasure Hoarders to take her back. Despite her desperation, she was kidnapped and taken back.

She was then thrown into her room and refused food and water for several days. In her rage, Wei used hair-trimming scissors to snip her ears down to a more human-like shape. This enraged her father, which ended with him attacking her (lip scar). Though bleeding, Wei managed to overwhelm her father and escape, and this is when she recieved her pyro vision. She quickly flees the abode and seeks refuge in Liyue.

When she got to Liyue, she took a room in a run-down shack on the outskirts of Liyue Harbour to enter hiding. She rarely left her room in fear of her father confronting her again, and she often spiralled into fits of panic, where during one of which she began filing off her horns with a blunt knife. On the days she did leave the room and wander Liyue, the scars were healed from the latest episode, and it was only to hunt for her own food. Liyue, though still beautiful, had now moved to the edges of the horizon, a distant memory and dream she could never reach.

Eight years after the events of Wei's escape, Teuila arrived in Liyue. Teuila was a wanderer of the land with a dendro vision. She has a deep interest in botany and herbal studies, and the first interaction between Wei and Teuila was of the former helping the latter find herbs for broth. Wei, barely scraping by despite the ground-low rent of the shack, allowed Teuila to move into her room to help pay for it. Teuila soon makes Wei interested in plants and herbs too.

Through hunting and cooking together, and discussion of native plants, the two form a bond. Instead of going inside the shack to sleep or read, Wei takes off some nights to hang out with Teuila, and the two eventually become fast friends.

After a few months of hanging out, Teuila takes Wei to the Lantern Rite festival that Wei had fleetingly witnessed years ago. The two make their own lanterns and set them free into the air.

Soon, however, Teuila must leave to go to the next stop on her journey, Sumeru. Wei, knowing where her life would be if Teuila left, asked to come with her. Pleased to have the company, Teuila agreed, and the two set off.

Their journey comes to the present time now, where the whole future is ahead of them.
