Early Life

Zach grew up in a small, poor household. His mother, Rinoa, worked hard to support him and his younger btoerh Travis, but at times it still never felt enough. Had his father been around; working instead of drinking their money away, perhaps his childhood would have been a little easier. Zach, being the Jester of the family, developed his magic fairly early. His abilities were similar to an ultrasound, where he could touch a person and 'see' their insides. He could 'see' broken bones, tumors, and even unborn babies in the womb. His artistry came around that time, when, his mother got tired of listening to a child's incoherent description of the inside of a body, gave him some paper and a pencil to draw what he saw instead.

The Revolution

Eventually, he got the bright idea to make his magic and talents into a business. Zach sold drawings to wealthy women who wanted to see their babies before they were born, or to doctors who were having trouble setting a fractured bone. For Mayrean's standards Zach was fairly successful, but everything is relative and it only sustained the life he had, not allowed him to flourish. Sometime around then, Travis, who had left to work in the Mayrean branch of the Anathiest military, showed up with a girl. And not just any girl, she was Amelia, the princess of Anathiest and the leader of the revolution against her father King Bryce. Though Zach found her antics and ditzy personality a little exhausting, Travis fell in love with it. He married Amelia as the war was waning, moving to Anathiest with her. Only a few months after Amelia's announcement of being pregnant, he got the news: K.I.A. Though Zach had lived a few years alone with his mother after Travis' deployment, Zach had always been close with his brother. He and his mother traveled to Anathiest, but Rinoa was occupied with the inconsoable and heavily pregnant Amelia. Zach, with not much to do, dove into his work with whomever would hire him while he stayed in the capital city of Anathiest. Eventually, though, he and his mother returned to Mayrean and life... was mostly back to the way it had been.

New Life in Anathiest

After hearing the news that his brother had returned, Zach couldn't help but be skeptical. Then he was angry because if it was indeed his brother, then where the hell had be been for all these years!? Leaving behind a wife, a child, and an entire freaking country that had been under his partial rule? Zach, along with his mother traveled up to Anathiest hastily to confirm for themselves that Travis was indeed back from the dead. And indeed, he was. After getting over the shock of his returned brother, whom Zach had grieved the death of, he was finally able to enjoy the trip. Before all that had happened, before Zach could even get into the castle itself; he had been turned away at the entrance. Unfortunately for him, He and Travis looked nothing alike so when ZAch tried to explain that they were brothers, the guards refused him entry. After deciding he would eventually be found by someone who would recognize him, Zach had parked himself under a tree to wait. That person was Rita, who had been on her break while Rinoa and the king and queen had a very serious chat. She was the one to let him in, the first real conversation between them since they had first met at Nora's first birthday three years ago. As they say, opposites attract. Though they seemed to have come from similar backgrounds and statuses, Rita was the social one with many friends and siblings while Zach was from a small, sort of isolated family. They enjoyed conversation nonetheless. Eventually, Zach worked up the courage to ask her out on a date, leading to a long distance relationship as he had to go back home. Of course, Zach made it his mission to finish any work he had in Mayrean, before he would rush back to Anathiest for good. It took several months, with many trips back and forth to visit her, but he made it happen.

Adult Life in Anathiest

On impulse (though with many good reasons to support it,) Zach moved to the Anathiest capital city. He had been meaning to do so for a while; better business, family, and opportunities were there. But, he also decided he was going to propose to Rita. He knew it was likely she was going to say yes, though that didn't help the anxiety whatsoever. As mentioned, she did say yes and they moved in together. Their wedding was humble but beautiful, with many family and friends attending. Now, was their time to live fully as young adults, for they had both still been living with their parents before moving in with each other.
